After many requests, I finally agreed to join a student D&D game. To be clear - I have never before played, nor desired to play, D&D. Here is the character sheet they created for me. I feel like they really captured my essence. #relationships #LearnerCentered

So so grateful to be part of a school that values innovation. Oh, and they let me write blog posts too. Check out my latest post about student-generated schedules.
Time is a really interesting resource in education. It is one that, unfortunately, always is in low supply. At Embark, we are thinking about who controls that resource and how it is used! #edchat #learnercentered #stuvoice @Education Reimagined

Thank you @ColoradoMatters and @averylill for helping to elevate the voices of our youth. Super proud of the student at @EmbarkEducation for their courage in working to understand and communicate how this election season has impacted their current lives and their future.
We also think teens’ opinions are worth a listen. So I talked to Elijah and his classmates last week about how it felt watching this election as the next generation of voters.

While rereading Outliers , I ran across the phrase "concerted cultivation." A great reminder that kids need encouragement and explicit support from adults to learn how to ask questions, speak up for what they need, and take up the space they deserve in our world. @malcomgladwell

@_courtneyjensen @ncte I hear that. It's been a few years since I read it. I know that the sequel is definitely NOT okay for middle-grade readers. But I think the first one is worth a re-read to see.

@_courtneyjensen @ncte After our talk yesterday, I realized I did have some suggestions. Parable of the Sower by Octavia Butler, The Eye of Minds by James Dashner, and most anything by Marie Lu.

Grateful to @EdReimagined for providing me with a place to share my journey.
