We're thrilled to announce that Veery v0.4 "Barb", our fourth test and first weather satellite, is launching today! Barb will test: - a more sensitive radar capable of measuring ocean surface wind speed - end-to-end control software from @elodinsystems - improved Iridium SBD software - partially-automated commissioning - and much more SpaceX livestream starts at 10:36pm!
Up first, Falcon 9 will launch 131 payloads to orbit during the Transporter-12 rideshare mission from California →

2/2 - We briefly activated the pointing control system and it works! Future tests will run the radar while the control system points it at the Earth. If successful, that will give us our first data from the smallest radar satellite in history.

@Web3IsWild cost for a 1U right now is generally in the range of $40k-$80k, but you have to go with an integrator who deploys your satellite with other satellites, spacex won't do something that small

🧭 Veery v0.4 can now tell where it's pointing thanks to a boost from @elodinsystems! The model on the laptop (left) shows where the satellite (right) thinks it's pointing based on a simulated magnetic field and sun. Veery v0.4 will launch with @SpaceX this Fall.🚀
