Those who tuned into Britain’s Got Talent on ITV1 tonight will have seen Head judge Simon Cowell hit the ‘Golden Buzzer’ for our pupil Malakai Boyah’s performance of ‘Pie Jesu’. We are all so very proud of Malakai and everything he has achieved.

As we commemorate VE Day, we remember those Old Vaughanians who fought in WW2. Among the many heroes were flying ace Brendan (Paddy) Finucane who fought in the Battle of Britain, and bomber pilot Donald Garland who received the Victoria Cross for his bravery.

In August four Schola members, Angelo A, Malakai B, Kaelan O & Daniel W, travelled to Japan for a series of concerts, sponsored by the Japan Boys Choir Association. The boys performed in major concert halls in Sapporo, Nagoya and Tokyo and also found time to visit Kyoto.

The Schola Cantorum has returned from their tour of Sweden. Across five days, the Schola sang at concerts and services, visiting this beautiful country for the first time. Their trip included a concert at Storkyrkan, Stockholm’s oldest church!

On Saturday, 64 Cardinal Vaughan pupils participated in the Mini London Marathon. They started at Horse Guards Parade and ran 2.6K, finishing on The Mall before receiving their medals. We are incredibly proud of those that took part and represented the school so well.

This weekend, the Schola Cantorum performed in the Buckfast Abbey. On Saturday, Schola performed Fauré Requiem and Monteverdi’s Beatus Vir. At Mass on Sunday morning, they sang Palestrina’s Sicut Cervus, the text of which is the motto of the Abbey itself.
