JUST IN: People are claiming Drake & PND’s ‘$$$4U’ album cover may have stolen ideas from Canadian artist John River as well as Freddie Gibbs. John River, who is from Mississauga (same city as PND), says that he had multiple meetings with PND/OVO members where they asked him extensively about his creative process behind his music video for ‘Hope City II’ and specifically, the Marilyn Monroe towers in Mississauga featured in John River’s video. This building became the backdrop for the ‘$$$4U’ cover. PND also reportedly threatened River with the possibility of getting “black balled” if he did not pay him homage. Freddie Gibbs has also noticed similarities between the cartoon bunny that is synonymous in his brand and the ones on the ‘$$$4U’ tracklist art. His album ‘$$$’ from 2022 is already suspiciously close to the Drake & PND collab title.
