On June 7th, I successfully defended my PhD thesis on the Dynamism of human-nonhuman relations amidst cyclonic disasters in Indian Sundarbans with an Outstanding Grade from my Final Defense committee. Special thanks to
@r_gov11
for being the kindest-supportive external ever. 1/3
Finally submitted my thesis last month after 5.5 intense years! A small advice for future PhD peeps: never choose a supervisor just for their accolades but go for the kind one. I traded a year for a supportive supervisor, and it made all the difference.

Speaking fluent English and using jargons in writing has become a sign of "real scholar" in academic institutions.
We forget that not everyone had the privilege to study in English medium school and english is not our mother tongue.

In this paper, I have attempted to understand how Sundarban locals re-construct their "narratives of marginal identity" by challenging conventional mainstream tradition.
These folk deities are what I too have grown up with.
HSS PhD scholar Camellia Biswas has a new paper titled "Reimaging human-nature interactions and reclaiming marginal identity through folk narratives of Sundarbans” published in 'Nidan: International Journal for Indian Studies'.

Savarna Scholars claiming white degree on anti-caste discourses! Also getting published easily for the jargons in papers because they had English medium training. WHAT AN IRONY!!!!!
