Today we thank all veterans from the U.S. Armed Forces who have put on the uniform to serve our country as well as those who continue to serve in a civilian capacity. We recognize and thank them for their commitment to defending the values we hold dear.

I was saddened to hear of the passing of Dr. David Kahn, a giant in American cryptology. A journalist, scholar, author, and member of NSA's Cryptologic Hall of Honor, he had an immense impact on educating the public about the value of cryptology to national security.
