The Commonwealth network provides a unique advantage to its members, significantly lowering trade costs. On average, trade costs between Commonwealth countries are 21% lower than those with non-member nations. This reduction stems from shared legal frameworks, common business practices, and a sense of trust and collaboration fostered by the Commonwealth family. CWEIC plays a pivotal role in nurturing these connections, creating an ecosystem where businesses can thrive without unnecessary barriers. For businesses, this means reduced costs, smoother trade flows, and an easier pathway to success in global markets. We look forward to continuing our commitment to strengthening global partnerships at the Commonwealth Trade and Investment Summit. The Commonwealth Enterprise and Investment Council (CWEIC) has recently signed a Strategic Partnership with the Enugu State Government to drive trade, investment, and economic growth. The agreement, signed at the Government House in Enugu, aligns with Governor H.E. Peter Mbah’s (@PNMbah) vision to grow the state’s economy from $4.4 billion to $30 billion. CWEIC Chief Executive Rosie Glazebrook affirmed the organisation’s commitment to supporting Enugu’s goals, while Governor Mbah highlighted CWEIC’s value in connecting the state to global opportunities through its extensive network of private-sector partners. During the visit, the CWEIC delegation toured key projects, including the nearly completed Enugu International Conference Centre (ICC) and an adjacent five-star hotel. Revitalised after 17 years of abandonment, the ICC is now 95% complete and, alongside the hotel, is set to position Enugu as a hub for international conferences and tourism. This partnership exemplifies CWEIC’s mission to foster trade and investment across the Commonwealth, unlocking significant socio-economic opportunities for Enugu and similar regions.
