I imagine various tests would emerge, just as the @CLT_Exam has emerged—ready to test various desirable bodies of knowledge, ranging from basic reading and math to foreign languages (certificates already exist) classics and advanced studies. Students can sit for the tests whenever they are ready. Employers can decide which tests are required for entry into jobs. Eliminate degrees for entry. Schools that want to offer test preparation can obviously do so, as they do now, but students can choose to go their own way instead. Separate liberal learning—always a worthy pursuit at every age—from the need for a simple minimum gateway to work, marriage and adulthood.

We have to separate liberal learning and Christian education from social access to jobs and marriage. Right now we have a degenerate state where only those students who have rotted away thru 12 years of school are considered eligible for the most bottom rung of jobs, and another 4 years for the next rung still considered entry level. That’s intolerable and was probably constructed in part to *prevent* young people from competing for jobs. Those who value education will always encourage more, and should—a plan of true cultivation of spirit that lasts from early childhood thru adulthood! But that is a different enterprise. It can’t be a pre-requisite to work, marriage, and full adult status. My point: make the social minimum very low, stop pretending we’re giving all kids a liberal education (we’re obviously not) and leave wide scope for parents to opt in for more.

@MoreBirths Also you can just furnish a house thru facebook marketplace irl. It’s ridiculous what people get rid of. Home building is not expensive if you’re trying.
