We are in the middle of one of the darkest times in our state. And yet, we must hold tight to our humanity so that we can continue to have the courage to tell the truth about the people we are killing, and about the impact on the ones they leave behind.

At times we seek quick answers, immediate solutions. But God works in depth, in the slow time of trust. Christian hope is not born in noise, but in the silence of an expectation filled with love. It is not the offspring of euphoria, but of trustful abandonment. -@Pontifex

Florida has executed #DavidJPittman Eternal rest grant unto him, O Lord. And may perpetual light shine upon him. In the words of Archbishop Wenski, “no man — no human — is a problem”. May we recognize the dignity of every person, even in spite of the horror of their crimes.

We pray for all who participate in the execution of #DavidJPittman tonight. David is intellectually disabled, exacerbated by a childhood rife with physical and sexual abuse, trauma, and neglect. Holy Spirit, guide us to not perpetuate cycles of violence in our legal system.

Florida plans to execute #DavidJPittman at 6 PM ET. If carried out, this would be the 12th execution of the “Sunshine State” in 2025. Lord, have mercy. Please stay with us tonight as we hold vigil for all those impacted by this act of state-sanctioned violence.
