Læger med døtre redder flere kvinder. Ny forskning viser, at kvinder har lavere risiko for at dø af kvindespecifikke kræftsygdomme som brystkræft, hvis deres privatpraktiserende læge er en mand med døtre. Kvinderne bliver oftere henvist til kræftundersøgelser i et tidligere stadie, hvor kræften bedre kan behandles. Mandlige læger med døtre er hurtigere til at følge op på ændringer i retningslinjer for kvindespecifikke sundhedsproblemstillinger, f.eks. omkring p-piller. Dette tyder på, at mandlige læger med døtre har større opmærksomhed på kvindesundhed. Studiet er udført af forskere fra Københavns Universitet og er støttet af ROCKWOOL Fonden.
