#ImpactThursday: Advancing Transparency & Accountability! Did you know that the Right to Information (RTI) Bill, a crucial tool for transparency and accountability became law because of relentless advocacy? The Center, along with CSOs and individuals, spearheaded efforts through the RTI Coalition, leading a nationwide push for its passage. As Chair of the Steering Committee, we coordinated advocacy efforts, ensuring that citizens’ voices were heard. 🔴 Remember the #RTIRedFriday campaign? Together with the RTI Coalition, Media Coalition on RTI, and @OccupyGh, we amplified pressure on legislators, making the RTI Bill a reality! ✔️ March 26, 2019 – Ghana’s Parliament passed the RTI Bill ✔️ May 21, 2019 – The President assented to the Bill ✔️ January 2020 – The law came into effect A win for democracy, a win for all! Let’s continue to demand transparency and access to information. #AccountabilityMatters

Impact Thursday! Throwback to an Anti-Corruption Win! In 2019, @CWGhana uncovered graft at the Ada Magistrate Court, Greater Accra Region. Frederick Asiamah(@profasiamah), an investigator at @CWGhana, who has interacted with a number of victims says he found that the practice had gone on for years, especially at the court registrar’s office. The project team subsequently submitted a petition to the Judicial Service on investigations into corrupt activities in February 2020. The Judicial Service set up a Disciplinary Committee following the Corruption Watch report and found the Registrar guilty of the charges. He has since been dismissed. This case underscores the power of investigative journalism and public accountability in the fight against corruption. #ImpactThursday

The Affirmative Action Act, 2024 was passed in July 2024, marking a significant milestone towards the protection and promotion of women's rights in Ghana. Championed by a collaborative effort among CSOs, including CDD-Ghana, the law aims to improve gender equality in decision-making from a minimum of 30% by 2026 to 50% by 2030. The Law also encourages gender equality and increased representation in political parties and the private sector. CDD-Ghana is committed to ensuring that the Law is implemented to achieve the desired effect. #AffirmativeActionLaw
