This sounds harsh, but I feel the same way every spring: Bucci is clunky (albeit enthusiastic) on the call, and Melrose is a space cadet. Can we get some real college hockey PXP folks to call these games? Maybe put Bucci on color 🤷🏻♂️
Baker Rink may be small, but it’s gorgeous. Completed in 1923, it’s the 2nd-oldest arena in the NCAA. So many cool details: wood ceiling, stone walls, gothic archways. A true college hockey gem. Plus, it smells like the old New England rinks I grew up playing in. In a good way ;)
To say the Tigers played their hearts out today would be an understatement. With 1 goalie, most of their top players unavailable (12 in total), and just 1 team practice since heading into quarantine 10 days ago, they dug their heels in & almost knocked off

SCSU. Gutsy effort.
11 years ago, the old WCHA broke apart to make way for the creation of two new college hockey conferences: the NCHC and the BIG 10. Championships won since…
NCHC: 🏆🏆🏆🏆🏆🏆
Hockey East: 🏆🏆
ECAC: 🏆🏆
Atlantic Hockey:
CCHA:
WCHA (now defunct):
BIG 10:
7-1 to CC
9-3 to DU
An ACHA squad scoring 4 against two Top 20 D1 teams in one weekend is nothing to sniff at. Props to the Beavers, they came to play and didn’t go away quietly either night.
‼️FINAL SCORE‼️
Not the score we wanted but we couldn't be more honored to have made history for this program! We will return back to Minot to prepare for the spring 2024 season.
Stay update throughout twitter as we travel to Las Vegas to play UNLV on 1/5 & 1/6
Colorado College won 4 games two seasons ago. Tonight, the Tigers played for a Frozen Faceoff Championship and a trip to the NCAAs. This is only Coach Mayotte’s 2nd season behind the CC bench, and there’s a strong recruiting class incoming. This is just the beginning.
Wild little boom in college hockey arena construction right now, EIGHT new barns in roughly 5 years:
Bentley (2018)
CC (2021)
Arizona State (2022)
UConn (2022)
Sacred Heart (2023)
Augustana (2023)
Arizona (2024)
Union (TBD)
Who’s next?
Colorado College Athletics has a cool new logo. The hockey team needs new jerseys. Put that Tiger front and center.
*Pardon the rough mock-ups, you can see what I’m driving at here :)
For the first time in over 23 years, CC’s next home game will be played in a new arena. And for the first time in the program’s 83-year history, that game will be played on campus.

Haven’t seen the CC student section this stacked in 15+ years. Gotta be almost 1/4 of the student body in the building tonight, what a turnout! 📸:
@lirvine27
Tigers are 9-9-1 vs Pairwise top 15.
Minutemen are 1-8-2 vs top 15. And that single win was at home.
CC is 21-13-3, UMass is 20-13-3.
Feels like CC really should’ve had a crack at the field this season, but it wasn’t to be. The math made it heartbreakingly close.
Wow. Just…wow.
CC rolls into Kalamazoo and sweeps

Western Michigan at Lawson Arena: 3-1 last night, 3-2 in OT tonight. Tigers are heading to the Frozen Faceoff for the second time in program history, and just like last time, they defeat WMU on the road to make it happen.
Monumental moment for this senior class. Final game of the regular season, their last at World Arena. 1-0 shutout and weekend sweep of

DU. Gold Pan reclaimed. On senior night. These guys have been thought A LOT. Couldn’t be happier for them.

@CC_Hockey1
After a strong freshman year (2nd in goals among NCHC rookies),
@GCruikshank

Ok ok ok, new arena and new locker room and new sweaters are cool and all, but can we talk about the totally insane setup
@jake_begley29
will be rocking this season?? I can hear those pillows just by looking at ‘em ⚡️🎸🔥
Another CC commit set to wear red, white, and blue on the ice this summer!
@jonny_meiers
has been selected to represent Team USA at the U-17 5 Nations Tournament in Slovakia in August 🇺🇸
After just three years at CC, Alex Leclerc will graduate this spring with a degree in International Political Economy, an incredible feat for any student. And he did it all while starting in net for the Tigers! That’s amazing. Diploma in hand, a pro deal is the natural next step.
Matthew Gleason of Cretin-Derham Hall (Minnesota-HS) commits to CC. The 17 year-old forward from St. Paul, MN logged 50p (28g, 22a) in 25 games as a sophomore last season, 41p as a freshman. Led the Raiders in scoring both years. Big talent, strong 2-way game.
Hunter McKown signs with the Columbus Blue Jackets. His development really took off at CC under Coach Mayotte, evolved into a hot commodity this season. Led the nation in PPGs, scored numerous highlight reel goals, drew lots of NHL interest. Earned this, very happy for him.
5 years ago this week,
@CC_Hockey1

Gavin Lindberg (Waterloo Blackhawks) has committed to CC. 2022 Minnesota Mr. Hockey finalist was voted Team MVP for the Moorhead Spuds this season, going 23-46-69 in 31 games.
Jaccob Slavin tallied 3 assists in Carolina’s Game 7 win over the Capitals, including an apple on the 2OT-winner. His 9 points in the series tie with Phil Housley (1995) and Mark Howe (1989) for most points by a US-born defenseman in a Stanley Cup Playoff series.
Happy Birthday to CC Hockey! 🎉
It all started in January of 1938 at the old Broadmoor Ice Palace, a converted equestrian center. After 83 years and 3 different arenas, the Tigers are finally coming home to campus this fall.
Matt Vernon has signed with the Reading Royals (ECHL). CC senior was testing the waters in the transfer portal for a possible 5th NCAA season, decides to go pro. Congrats,

Congratulations to CC alum Jaden Schwartz on becoming a Stanley Cup Champion!! The Wilcox, Saskatchewan native is the first Tiger to hoist the cup since Doug Lidster with Dallas in 1999. CC coach Mike Haviland won the cup with Chicago in 2010.
This week, college hockey fans will witness something they haven’t seen in years…
A top 10 matchup between CC and DU. Before this season, the Tigers were last a top 10 program in February of 2012. So it’s definitely been at least 12 years or more.
Cool to see junior Jake Begley (a career 3rd string for CC) get his first collegiate action tonight. The Minnesota native closed out the final 1:23+ and made a couple saves to rousing cheers from the home crowd. Also,

If you make a hit like that, you don’t get to play the next game with your team. Period. Doesn’t matter if it’s for a natty. Sorry, kid.
Tiger freshman making his NCAA debut tonight. Cade Ahrenholz (Lakeville, MN), a 6’3” 215-pound forward, was a star linebacker in high school. Had multiple offers to play college football, but chose hockey. Definition of a power forward.

OT FINAL: CC 4, Omaha 3. First-ever playoff game at Robson Arena and first in the NCHC era for the Tigers and wow, it did not disappoint. Down 3-0 in the 2nd, CC storms back with a dominant 3rd, netting the tying goal in the final minute. And then this beauty in overtime…
Tyler Coffey (‘00,

Lots of talk in recent years about

expansion on the Pacific coast. Having fun imagining CC traveling west for road series in cities like Los Angeles, Palo Alto, and Eugene. It’s only a matter of time.
Hearing that CC senior Zach Berzolla (New Jersey native) has signed with the Hartford Wolf Pack, AHL affiliate of the New York Rangers. Official confirmation and deets TBD.
Impossible to overstate the contributions of this senior class. They arrived on campus in 2014, CC won 6 games that year. This season...
✅ 17 wins (most since 2012-13)
✅ Pikes Peak Trophy
✅ Gold Pan
✅ Frozen Faceoff
Here’s to the Tigers who helped reinvigorate CC Hockey! 🐯
This Friday evening at Robson Arena, CC will honor the patrons and employees of Club Q, along with the entire Colorado Springs LGBTQ+ community. The Tigers will wear commemorative decals on their helmets.
ICYMI - Matt Vernon was named NCHC Rookie of the Week after anchoring the CC net in a road sweep of SCSU. The San Jose, CA native stopped 47 of 51 shots (including 12 on the PK), logging a .922 SVS and a 2.00 GAA. He’s now 3-1-1 in 5 career starts as a Tiger.

Love this, just straight class. Especially moving when you recall that Air Force opened its arena doors to CC when the old World Arena was demolished & the program was on the verge of collapse. If not for AFA, Tiger Hockey might not be here today. 2 teams, inextricably linked.
Without question, this is a huge day for
@ColoradoCollege
and it’s hockey program. Monumental. For the first time in its 80-year history, Tiger Hockey will have an official on-campus home.
🚨 TIGER COMMIT ALERT 🚨

Colorado College earns its first sweep over North Dakota in Grand Forks since 1993. It’s been 30 years. That season (1993-94) was Don Lucia’s first behind the Tiger bench. Compound that by the fact that UND is

in the polls. Coach Mayotte just might be onto something…
Pretty cool to secure your first career win as a head coach…on the road, against a top 10 opponent, and with the all-time winningest coach in college hockey history (Jerry York, 1110 victories) on the opposite bench.

Per Rick Greene: The header for the coolant system has been reinstalled, and the piping is back in place. Crews are ready to pour concrete for Robson’s ice surface on Thursday!
One thing’s for certain: Mayotte’s coaching/recruiting is starting to pay dividends. CC gave the Huskies fits, the freshmen looked like veterans out there. This team is ready to go toe-to-toe with the best in the country and could BECOME one of the best sooner rather than later…
FINAL: CC 4, DU 3. Pioneers mount a furious comeback in the 3rd, but the Tigers hang on for a huge win. CC snaps a very long regular season losing streak against DU and secures home ice in the NCHC playoffs for the first time ever. Just an outstanding hockey game. Shots 31-23 CC.

Still no new updates, but CC is expected to begin construction of a new hockey arena sometime this year. The proposed building site is located at the corner of Nevada Avenue and Dale Street on the southeastern edge of campus.
