There's no doubt that Michael Longley's name and work was much discussed in papers and talks given to audiences at the annual conferences of CAIS through not merely years but decades. A sad loss to lovers of poetry in Ireland and elsewhere.
The poet Michael Longley has died at the grand age of 85. He was one of the greatest lyrical poets writing in the English language. I feel the loss already of his necessary voice. BBC One - Michael Longley - Where Poems Come From

A sad day for Canadian Irish Studies with the loss of Michael Quigley, historian, and CAIS newsletter editor. That our newsletters were of a quality to rival any scholarly association says much about Michael's abilities and commitment. RIP Michael. NĂ fheicfimid a leithĂ©id arĂs.
A tough old day with the loss of comrade Michael Quigley. My condolences to Helen on his passing. Here's an old snap from 2004 in Toronto with Michael and Sinn Fein President Mary Lou McDonald. RIP Michael.
