Strange how every time leftists post “Islamic architecture” it’s just buildings from Iran and none of its supposed admirers even respect the tradition enough to appreciate it void of virtue signalling or call it what it actually is; Persian architecture.
strange how none of the “retvrn to tradition” accounts ever talk about the stunning beauty of islamic architecture

Baffled. Bewildered. Perplexed that local kebab salesman from some 3rd world Islamic theocracy happens to have outlandish political views. How could this be, i thought he was just so kind and loving by the way he always says "extra garlic sauce, boss?" When I give my order. .
Celebrating the murders and kidnapping of Israelis is quite possibly the most heinous act of public hate I have seen on the streets of London.

Nothing is funnier than Albanian diaspora. Just straight up we wuzzing themselves into imaginary victimhood and grievances that never took place.
imagine complaining about albanians living in britain, when you guys are directly responsible for dividing our lands causing decades of displacement and g3nocide for our ppl.

@ArmenianStalin @SG_Tupper Plutarch’s description is the closest you’re going to get. Attempting to discredit it after posting the Pompeii mosaic made centuries after is rich lol.

@ArmenianStalin @SG_Tupper “Apelles, in painting him as wielder of the thunder-bolt, did not reproduce his complexion, but made it too dark and swarthy. Whereas he was of fair colour, as they say, and his fairness passed into ruddiness on his breast particularly, and in his face.”. Plutarch, Alexander 4.3.

@carthago814 My point is, it is so much more than that. Imagine if all architecture in practically any majority-Christian country was reduced to mere “Christian architecture” and blindly grouped together, solely appreciated as an insult to political enemies.
The palace of Alhambra in Andalusia, Muhammad Ali mosque of Cairo (largely western Baroque inspired), the impressive Shah Mosque of Isfahan, the many Seljuq Caravanserai’s of Anatolia all reduced to mere “Islamic architecture”. Such simplification should make one feel insulted.

@kunley_drukpa Vacuum box really adds to the experience. Truly makes you feel like you’re in the presence of one of the age defining men in history. Wouldn’t be the same without it I think.

The Pantanassa Monastery // Μονή Παντάνασσας of Mystra // Μυστρά, Greece. Dedicated in 1428 by John Frankopoulos // Ἰωάννης Φραγγόπουλος of the #Byzantine Despotate of Morea, it is inhabited by nuns and remains the last continuously inhabited monastery at the historical site.

@realpeteyb123 Greek Americans suffer from diaspora syndrome where they attempt to cling close to their inherited roots to avoid assimilation, the issue with this is that it is (largely) superficial and does not translate to the actual homeland where people do not have the same impulses. What.

@magicinthealps I definitely wouldn’t disagree in certain contexts, I also don’t intend to divorce religion from the architecture (on the contrary even, I think these all influence one another), the example I gave may not have been clear enough with that. The point is mostly that these broad.

Filmed in Cappadocia, Maria Callas as lead, costume design inspired by ancient Mesopotamia & Mediterranean, also makes creative use of crazy looking Turkish/Kurdish shepherds coat (see first picture). Orientalist fantasy done perfectly right. Pure kino.
The almost psychedelic rendition of "Medea" (1969) by Pier Paolo Pasolini, one of the greatest films in italian cinema.

Armenian architecture & art feels uniquely defined by its reliance on stone masonry. This is due to number of reasons (very dry earthquake-prone highlands as well as perilous frontier zone), but it also gives a very distinct character. Wouldn't feel out of place in Middle-Earth.

@HerrKalos_PhD In Egypt it’s like the opposite of this. Walk around pyramids and the desert is like a garbage dump. Camel guy hands me a coke during the little break, I ask where to leave the bottle, “just throw it in the sand” he says. It physically hurt me to do it, but I had no other choice.

@hollowearthterf So what? This is all you could think of? What’s else? You’re going to post some tamed and docile little snub nose surrounded by flowers to prove that you like monkeys? You’re all so predictable.

You won't see state-sponsored assaults on other religions like this not because "they fear Islam" or anything of the sort, but exactly because Christianity is the old enemy at home while other religions in the West are used as diversionary instruments to advance their interests.

Worst opinion ever xosted on X. Ever.
Puffer jackets are functional, unassuming and dignified for men. Wool coats are for gay guys, tragic “Dimes Square” fashion victims and Colombian zoomers from Queens who work at Zara. They’re not warm enough, they’re not cut generously enough, most men don’t look like Alain Delon.

The only basis on which Greece ever existed was guaranteeing the protection and continued existence of the Greek nation. Inability to understand this and take ideas to their full conclusion truly epitomizes the cowardly apathetic liberal 'thought' so rife in Western countries.
Greece was a land of many peoples, languages and cultures. Through nationalist aspirations that based themselves on supposed century and thousand year old claims, it became, mainly through horrifying violence an artificial ethnostate, a Greece for Greek christians.
