On Sept 2, 1944, LTJG George Bush was shot down while completing a bombing run on Chi Chi Jima. Tragically, his two crewmen were killed, while LTJG Bush narrowly avoided capture by the enemy. He wrote his parents this heartfelt letter the following day, as read by his son Marvin.
