I’m not a fan of MLB players being mic’d up but Cardinals pitcher Adam Wainwright just used the opportunity (while warming up to face the Braves) to be thoughtful and educational rather than trying to be a character. Outstanding.

I worked with Larry Johnson at the National Sports Daily, and, later, WEEI. One of the all-time great guys. Spent an afternoon with him about a year-and-half ago and he was as upbeat as ever. Rest in peace, my friend.

Hi all . thx for all the nice messages regarding today’s unexpected eye procedure. The docs say fallout from the detached retina could’ve been much worse had I waited even a few weeks. I’m very lucky. If you start seeing a little black circle in your eye get it checked ASAP.

I once told Frank Robinson I was at Fenway in 1970 when he made great extra-inning catch in RF. “Yeah, and the next day I hit back-to-back grand slams off a couple of Joes,” he said. Thought it was a baseball term. Nope: He hit ‘em off Joe Coleman, Joe Grzenda on June 26, 1970.

The late Chris Snow always had this great, big smile. It was so big that when he was a kid his dad would call him “Guy Smiley.” Over the past couple of years we learned Chris never lost that positive outlook on life. What a great man. We can learn so much from him.

Today we hugged Chris for the last time and said goodbye as he went to give four people the gift of life by donating his kidneys, liver and lungs. We are deeply broken and deeply proud. In life and in death, Chris never stopped giving. We walk forward with his light guiding us.
