Aftermath of a dog attack. We’re still missing 4 black chickens, 3 white ones, & 2 of the older teens. Brutus is bleeding, can’t tell if it’s from feathers being pulled out or what, he needed to not be held anymore so I set him down to breathe and relax. Hope others show up soon.

Brutus let me pick him up again with very little resistance, which is how we know he’s stressed out. I sprayed the entire area really well, just a little blood from having feathers ripped out, didn’t see a bite mark, whew! He’s dancing for a hen now, so I’ve got faith he’ll fully

Hung out with this guy a little bit at breakfast time. Wanna make sure if he’s ever hurt, he trusts me enough to let me help him. Brutus hates cuddles, but will let me help, and I need this big guy to at least be like that. It’s a fun balance with the roos😂❤️🐓

Brutus is annoyed this morning. Everybody is now all over the place, under cars, under other shelters, etc. So he’s just standing right inside the main coop being mad at the rain. And probably at me, since everyone knows I control the weather. 😂❤️🐓

- fixed and reinforced this shelf and then we moved it over by the coop to store things. We got it for $20 a while back, guy who sold it also used it outside. Now it’s the chicken shelf, and it’ll hold lots of chicken stuffs!! I think they like it!!🥳

This sweet chicken.. a neighbor’s dog came up here and went after her. Brutus went bonkers, we came out, hubby scared the dog off, all is well. She lost lots of feathers- thought we had a dead hen at first! She’s on and off limping now, but she’s ok. Just shook up, poor thing❤️

Biggie has decided to sit on eggs. She’s got three of them. I marked each with an X this morning so others can’t randomly add to her pile, which she was not happy about. We’ll see if she keeps going or decides to quit, either one is totally possible😂

Scrambled up the freeze dried raw eggs, and I honestly can’t tell the difference! Hubby tried them too and also said he can’t tell:) the texture is right and I dig ‘em!! The 2Tbsp egg to 2Tbsp water worked just right. I did 1/4 cup of each (4Tbsp) to get 2 eggs. Perfection!

The action at the bird feeder in under 60 seconds is awesome!! Female cardinal, blue jay, red-bellied woodpecker, white-breasted nuthatch (first time I’ve caught one on film!), male cardinal, and titmice! Just amazing!! Have more to post later, this morning has been rad!!😀

Got 90 eggs into the freeze dryer this morning.. we’ve been inundated lately lol. I put 18 in each tray. All our chickens lay large or extra large eggs. Except for Big Head. She lays whatever size and shape she’s feeling each day, and it varies quite a bit.. always has to be one

Stupid Monday..
So I was wrong in video, there’s only two keets in that snake. The chicken who died was probably killed in the scuffle, Lil Kim’s beak is hurt, which I will check later. So 4 chicks and 4 keets left. Stupid snake. It’s the first ever snake in the run though.
