In a year where so much tradition changed for the hunters of pa, I decided to take a different approach. When my grandfather passed away he left me a model 1899 3040 krag carbine. The gun was manufactured in 1901.This gun hadn't seen the woods in close to 60 yrs. More in repies

Got the word today the doe bleat is still helping knock them down. Rob said he bleated and a couple minutes later he saw the buck cruising by him on the bank… hit the bleat again and brought him right back.

This has been the season of the bleat call! I believe it to be the most underrated of the deer calls. It works all season long. No deer is unwilling to to check out a doe but after being beat around a buck might be hesitant to check out a grunt.

This is the call that my daughter built. She picked the wood which is 77 yr old reclaimed cherry from our camp. She turned sanded it and picked the band and insert color.

Got this pic in from a good friend tonight. He said this buck was working around him at about 100 yards. He hit his grunt and the buck changed direction and walked right to him. Judging by the rack this guy was looking for a fight!

I have been humbled a couple times in my call making adventure. Recently I was asked to build calls that would be gifted to Rhett Akins. He is not only a great county music singer/songwriter, but he is a fantastic turkey hunter!
