In Reception today we re-enacted ‘We’re going on a bear hunt’. We enjoyed the sensory experience of looking for the bear in the long wavy grass, thick oozy mud, deep cold river, big dark forest, swirling whirling snowstorm and the narrow gloomy cave.

What a fantastic KS2 dress rehearsal of Aladdin. We had a special guest come along to watch. Thank you Jodie Whittaker (13th Dr Who) for saying lovely things to all the children after the performance and for having your photo taken with Year 6!

What a night!!! There was knocking on my door all night; asking for extra pillows, a story, a drink! In the end, I had to lock Mrs Barwick in her room.
The kids, however, were brilliant. Against earlier predictions, all (yes, all) children slept the whole night through.

Year 4 have had an eventful day so far. We had to swim to Cliffe House; had to take a detour to avoid a bull that was doing bullish things; got wetter than a beaver's braces and had to delay lunch. However, I have not heard one person, sorry, child, whining.

It’s Sparkle Day at Brockholes School! Every child has made a decoration and put it on the tree as we were singing Christmas songs. The oldest and youngest child in school had the honour of switching the lights on. Just the beginning to this fabulous time of year!

We thought you might like to see what our ‘bubbles’ look like in school. Siblings are sat with each other in the mixed age bubbles. Some bubbles have 4 year groups in it. All bubbles are named after birds as we have heard lots of birdsong over lockdown.

Today we have laughed and cried as we have wished our Year 6’s all the best for the future as well as saying happy retirement to Mrs Wimpenny and Wendy. It has been an emotional but fun day!
