I said the other day that RPU work was the most dangerous daily work environment in the Police.
Just had an update that the offender, Mr Adamson, recently went on a bit of a drug induced burglary spree and was caught by The Met.
He told officers how he’d run a copper over to try and intimidate them until he was reminded that the same cop got up, chased and caught him…

For some reason I have been stupid enough to volunteer to have this done to me twice.
Once with CS and more recently with PAVA. Very unpleasant and a higher use of force than Taser.
I’d prefer to be Tasered that experience PAVA again!

Outside Holland Park this afternoon and watched Discovery driver pull up on Zig-Zags, pop the hazard lights on, alight from car, collect Starbucks, return to car, spends 20 seconds checking her phone, then drives off.
Shame I was waiting at the crossing the entire 2 mins 50 secs

Van driver detected driving at in excess of 102mph along the A3 (limit is 60mph in his van).
As I pulled up alongside the van, the driver was holding and looking at his phone.

THIS is why working on fast roads is the most dangerous type of day to day policing, by far.

It took them SEVEN months to decide that after choosing to fail to stop, choosing to drive dangerously and crashing as a result of his own driving, that the Pollce didn’t keep him warm while waiting for an ambulance. SEVEN months.

Ever wondered what it feels like to switch on the blue lights after you’ve been observing a driver committing offences for a while?
In my best Cilla Black voice:

I wouldn’t drive in the hatched area, it’s covered in stones, debris and anything else that punctures tyres. I’d never expect a cyclist to cycle their either.
Amount of time lost while I waited patently, probably 15 seconds. I waste more time stirring my tea every few hours.
Distracted driving, repeated offences, & the feebleness of UK law

So Highways England, formerly Highways Agency, is changing name AGAIN to be “National Highways”.
Apparently this will herald “a new era for strategic roads.”
No it won’t.
It will just waste a load of public money on a name change.

A DashCam or BikeCam is an excellent gift for a driver or cyclist.
There are lots of different options out there.
My advice is avoid the cheap ones as the footage will be useless.
They can save the driver a lot of money in the long term too.
Let me tell you a little story…
This car spiked my interest as it was shown untaxed.
No biggie, run of the mill.
Whilst following the vehicle it swerved onto the wrong side of the road. 🤨
I pulled up alongside it to fine the driver holding her dinner in one hand, and…

Whilst responding to an unrelated incident we found this driver reversing in a live motorway lane towards oncoming traffic…because they’d taken the wrong exit.

The importance of pre-record on BWV...the device is basically always on and when the record button is hit, it saves the last minute or so of footage.
