This isn’t cycling, sorry.
But I’m in two minds about whether to remain on this platform given the inflammatory remarks made by Elon Musk recently and his willingness to give far-right extremists a platform.
The cycling community on here is lovely.
However…

The slow decline of the domestic road racing scene is like watching a death by a thousand cuts.
There has been no ‘big bang’, no defining moment of collapse, no sudden wake-up call.
Which perhaps explains the seeming indifference of those at the top at
@BritishCycling
.

I have to confess, sometimes recently I have questioned whether to continue with The British Continental. Daily life has become busier and more stressful.
But then I'll read a new rider journal post or get a heartwarming email about the site. And my enthusiasm is renewed 😀
We are beyond proud to reveal that
@rapha
has agreed to become our title sponsor.
We'll say more about this incredibly exciting partnership tomorrow after we've had a celebratory tipple.
Cheers 🍻

OK, I’m supposed to be taking a social media break for a few days but
@Tompid
winning stage 4 of the Baby Giro today is well worth a temporary return!

10th too
What a shocking experience for Alex Richardson, run down by men on motorbikes and balaclavas and then threatened with a machete, all in broad daylight in Richmond Park.
We hope he’s OK.
Some good news to end the week.
Tim Elverson's Canyon dhb SunGod team looks set to continue in 2022, ending a period of nervy uncertainty for the squad.

As for Archibald, 14th place for a continental-level rider is stupendous. Imagine what he could have done if he'd been given some notice and time to prepare specifically for the event

Pidcock made the (British) headlines today, and quite rightly, but Ben Tulett and Anna Shackley also deserve plaudits.
Both finished 17th today in the Amstel Gold Race. Both are just 19. Both have extremely bright futures.

With Instagram now being the place where we get most of our social media engagement, and with X being a platform we feel increasingly uncomfortable about, we’re going to take a break from here for a few days at least. Not sure yet if we’ll return.

Tom Pidcock (21 years old) finishes 6th and Ben Tulett (19 years old) is 12th at La Flèche Wallone.
Mightily impressive performances by the youngsters.
Leo Hayter (Hagens Berman Axeon) crushes the opposition on the formidably mountainous stage 3 of the Baby Giro, putting minutes into his rivals to take a commanding early lead in the GC.
Grateful there are so many Twitter users out there who are not only experts on doping but also have extensive medical & accident impact expertise. Their real skill though is being able to apply that expertise using only hearsay & secondary evidence to reach definitive conclusions
Alex Richardson (Alpecin-Fenix) was 6th in the national road race this weekend for the second time in a row (he was 6th in 2019 too).
Good to see him back on form so recently after his shocking experience in Richmond Park 👏

NEWS | It’s a shame that
@TrinityRacing_
won’t be at the Baby Giro this year. Two years ago Tom Pidcock won the race for the team m, while last year Tom Gloag was 4th.
Their exclusion diminishes the quality of the field.
Mixed feelings about a TTT at the Tour of Britain.
It's a great spectacle.
But on the other hand, it severely handicaps the GC hopes of the domestic teams, who otherwise have riders well capable of a top ten, or even more.
What do our followers think?

Chapeau to

It's fantastic to see so many domestic race organisers streaming coverage of their races this season. Elevates the scene. 👏
