This is truly how it’s done. Investing in rural, showing up for rural, and building rural fellowship despite the fact that Rowan County went 67% for Trump. We simply cannot ignore rural areas just because the party lines are not in our favor.

standing room only today in📍Rowan County. I’m so proud of the resiliency in rural North Carolina. We have so much left to fight for, and our state doesn’t give up even when our republican representatives want to defund our public schools and take away personal freedoms. ⬇️✊

Organizing in rural is a necessity and has been overlooked for far too long. This is testament to what can be done when time, effort, and money is placed into rural communities.

Rural Virginians would be hit hardest if Medicaid expansion is rolled back, leaving thousands without healthcare. Many rural hospitals rely on Medicaid expansion patients to stay financially stable. This is another example of rural folk being left behind.

I think this article is an interesting read on the challenges Democrats face in rural America. "Once the party of the working class, many blue-collar Americans now see Democrats as the party of out-of-touch social elitism." Worth reading.

Andy Beshear's strong approval rating in a predominantly red state, where most counties are rural, is a clear testament to the power of prioritizing the issues that truly matter to rural, red-leaning voters.

In Kentucky, we’re showing that when you focus on the things that matter—record economic development, expanding access to high-speed internet and health care and building the infrastructure for a modern economy—voters understand you care about them.

I’m excited to share that I’ve started a Substack. My first article, The Road Back to Rural America: Rebuilding the Democratic Brand, explores how Democrats can reconnect with rural working-class voters and rebuild trust.
