Today and tomorrow are ideal conditions for harmful algal blooms. If you see a suspicious bloom avoid contact and report it to DEC using the form below. Be especially cautious of letting your dog swim through a bloom as toxins can get caught on their fur.

It's cool to see @NYSDEC using @NotaWheelchair, an American-made off-road wheelchair. I've followed @ZacksJerryRig and his wife Cambry's development of this product over the past several years, and I'm glad to see them in use here in the Adirondacks.

A time-lapse of the remnants of Beryl passing over Lower St. Regis Lake on the @paulsmiths campus in the #Adirondacks. Large storms like this can deliver pulses of nutrients and other pollutants to our lakes and rivers.

We’ve seen several harmful algal blooms (HABs) across the #Adirondacks this week. If you see a bloom avoid contact as it could contain toxins. @paulsmiths @ADK_Watershed staff are out sampling as many blooms as possible to identify the cyanobacteria present and test for toxins.

A day on Lower St. Regis Lake seen from the @paulsmiths campus. @ADK_Watershed will use timelapse videos captured from the camera to create a visual archive of ice in and ice out on the lake. But also, the sunset & sunrise from our campus is so beautiful!

Monitoring is critical to protecting clean water, which is the legacy of the #Adirondack Park. @ADK_Watershed has one of the most comprehensive datasets in the park, covering over 400 waterbodies! Stay tuned; we'll be releasing a lot of data and info over the coming year.
