Shelters in Edmonton are currently under-capacity and not turning people away. As of last night, January 12, there are 1771 shelter spaces open in Edmonton and provincially funded spaces in Edmonton were at 72% capacity yesterday.

Alberta’s government has provided funding for over 1700 shelter spaces that has flowed from the province to shelter operators. There are currently over 1400 shelter spaces in Edmonton. Another couple hundred spaces will be opening early this year to reach 1700 spaces.   Shelters
