Us as growers, advisors and researchers, along with wider industry, are lucky to have such an invaluable resource available to support us!
A great tour of @PbiCobbitty @Sydney_Uni with Drs. Karanjeet Sandhu & @davs_singh and Matthew Williams. An impressive and crucial infrastructure for cereal rusts research. I haven’t seen such an impressive infrastructure for rust research anywhere in US/Canada.

@Imharidadu @TaraGarrard @s_simpfendorfer 2/2. I would also add on top of growth stage, the resistance rating of the variety, APR expression, yield potential, seasonal conditions, other compounding diseases, N status, fungicide label restrictions and price of grain as other considerations in fungicide application.

@Imharidadu @TaraGarrard @s_simpfendorfer 1/2 Sorry @TaraGarrard I’m a bit late, but @Imharidadu is all over it! Ideal cycle temp 12-20 C. Will slow either side of that and cease above 23 and below 3. Hence, extended latency period under these conditions. The longer it can stay 12-20C, the quicker it will cycle.

@DesiToohey @agrobaz @grassrootsag @AgroJAK Agree, the survey/trial results showed that CR build up/decline in paddocks can act very differently. Rotation, mgt and abiotic factors at play, further investigation needed. Results showed the ability of double breaks to effectively ⬇️ CR but in cases not entirely remove risk.

@s_simpfendorfer @NSWDPI_AGRONOMY @mickharris85 @theGRDC Wagga and collungullie: Trojan, nil upfront. Condobolin: scepter, nil upfront. Burcher: lancer, nil upfront. Greenthorpe: Bennett, nil upfront/ had foliar. Cowra: coolah, unsure. Foliar: unsure but assuming most of these had foliar by now.

@agrobaz @grassrootsag @DesiToohey @AgroJAK Season plays a huge role in CR expression. 20-22, soft springs masked the full effects of CR, generally it continued to be maintained or built. 23 we saw ⬆️ expression than previous years driven by tighter spring. October rain helped. Yep, demonstates how persistent it can be!

@grassrootsag @cropmad @DesiToohey @AgroJAK @s_simpfendorfer Spot on, crown rot inoculum can persist in the stubble for 3 years. Making it a tricky one to mange in tight rotations.

@agrobaz @SeedsRebel @soupercocky @s_simpfendorfer Hi Baz reasonable widespread infection in sNSW. First sample I saw came through week 17 June. Since then your area, Burcher, Condobolin, Greenthorpe, Wagga and Collingullie. Likely others area too. Varieties suggests 198 possibly others. Samples at Cobbitty, pathotyping will tell
