My dad was left handed but forced to learn to write with his right hand growing up. I'm left handed, and he made a point of telling me when I was a kid. Something *that* small had made an impact on him. Can't imagine how tough it'd be for trans people.

Corporal punishment was outlawed in Norway where I grow up while I was growing up, and somehow the world didn't end.
I now live in the UK where it is still legal with some limitations, and after 23 years here it's still shocking when I run into people defending it.

There are possible fixes for this too, but they'll inherently be obnoxious. E.g. one option is requiring a pin, storing two sets of data, and adding a "distress code" you can give to law enforcement that'll return the "clean" dataset. But very easy to mess up.
