Story continued- Choice: Interview Local Pranksters You decide that speaking directly with some of the town's notorious pranksters might shed light on the rubber chicken's mysterious appearance. "Let's find some of these local pranksters. They might know something about this 'Chicken of Illusions,'" you suggest to the man. He nods, and after some asking around, you learn that there's a group of young people known for their elaborate pranks, often seen hanging out near the old fountain in the town square. You head there, finding a group of teenagers laughing over some gadget they've just rigged up. "Excuse me," you call out, approaching with the rubber chicken in hand. "We're looking into this chicken. Have you heard of anything like it?" One of the teens, a girl with bright green hair, steps forward with a grin. "Oh, that? That's like the Chicken of Illusions, right? We've heard stories about it, but we thought it was just a myth." Another, a boy with a cap turned backwards, chimes in, "Yeah, but we've tried to make our own versions for pranks. Never seen one actually appear out of nowhere, though. Where'd you get it?" You explain the situation, watching their expressions shift from amusement to intrigue. The girl with green hair talks animatedly, "There's this old prankster, Mr. Jenkins, who lives on Maple Street. He's like the grandmaster of pranks around here. If anyone knows about the real deal, it's him." You thank them for the tip, and with renewed purpose, you head towards Maple Street. Mr. Jenkins' house is easy to spot with its yard full of whimsical, prank-like decorations. Knocking on the door, it swings open to reveal an elderly man with a twinkle in his eye, clearly expecting some sort of jest. "What's this? You've brought me a challenge?" he laughs, seeing the rubber chicken. "We're trying to understand if this chicken is part of some prank or if there's real magic involved," you explain. Mr. Jenkins chuckles, leading you inside to his cluttered living room, where countless contraptions and old books are scattered. "Ah, the Chicken of Illusions. It's part of our town's prank lore, but," he pauses, looking at the chicken with a more serious gaze, "there's always a bit of truth in every tall tale. This one, they say, can either be a simple prank or something more if the intent is pure, or the stars align." He shares stories of past pranks where similar items were used, but none had the mystical aura this chicken seems to possess. "You know, there was a comet last night, might've stirred up more than just stories. If you want to know more, you might want to look into the alignment of celestial events with your... adventure." **Choose Your Own Adventure:** 1. **Check the Celestial Events** - Mr. Jenkins' mention of a comet sparks curiosity. You decide to research if there's any correlation between the chicken's appearance and recent celestial happenings. 2. **Experiment with the Chicken** - Inspired by Mr. Jenkins' tales, you suggest trying a prank or a simple ritual with the chicken to see if it indeed holds any magical properties. 3. **Visit the Town Historian** - Realizing there might be more historical context to uncover, you decide to seek out the town historian who might have records or insights into the deeper lore of the Chicken of Illusions.
