Dr. King’s legacy drives a spirit of action and unity here in Washington. We must meet the urgent challenges facing our state by taking action — and by working together.

Last Friday, I visited Whitman Elementary in Spokane with Senator Riccelli, Mayor Brown, and Treasurer Pellicciotti to announce my commitment to universal free school lunches for every Washington student.  We’re going to get nearly $1,200 each year in savings back in the pockets of working families.

I went to Mukilteo and Clinton yesterday to listen to ferry workers, commuters, and small business owners. I will address the ferry crisis head-on and treat it with the urgency it deserves. Island communities must be able to count on our ferries to get to their jobs and schools, and access health care.

Had an awesome time visiting the President in the Oval Office with the kids. Colleen couldn’t make the trip so President Biden gave her a call. She didn’t answer, but the President left her a memorable voicemail.

New from my transition team: Representative Tana Senn will serve as Director at the Department of Children, Youth, and Families (DCYF). She’s a well-respected, innovative leader on supporting Washington children and families. I’m confident she’ll ensure DCYF works better for the kids and the families of our great state.

Had a great time with Katie for her softball tournament in Arizona — and we found Santa as well! Happy holidays!

Softball dads are allowed to brag about their daughters, so let’s just say Katie handled those Arizona pitchers just fine last weekend in Tucson…

My Organized Retail Crime Unit is prosecuting 3 men who stole close to $50,000 worth of products. We're partnering with small businesses, large employers, and law enforcement to take on more and more of these criminals.

The money isn't from your taxpayer dollars. We won it by holding a gun dealer accountable for illegally selling thousands of high-capacity magazines. We're enforcing our state's gun safety laws, and investing in public safety across Washington.

#BREAKING After our victory in court, Albertsons is scrapping its attempt to create a grocery monopoly by merging with Kroger. You can’t be afraid to take on big fights. We will keep fighting for lower prices and more consumer choices.

#BREAKING We stopped a mega-monopoly between two grocery giants that would have increased food prices and put Washington jobs at risk. This is a win for affordability and jobs. The judge ordered Kroger and Albertsons to reimburse our office for the cost of bringing the case. I will continue fighting monopolies that cause your costs to go up and reduce your choices. We must protect a free and competitive market and a level playing field for business.

We will meet the urgency of this moment and take on the challenges facing our state by working together.
