Cutty's story of redemption is maybe the most gratifying in the series. Using it as inspiration, I searched and happened upon the Downtown Boxing Gym in Detroit that does similar great work for the youth in the city. They have a 100% high school graduation rate and are certainly worthy of support.

Mid 70s. Outdoor show at Ypsilanti Ryerson(sp?) football field with Ace, Dave Mason, Peter Frampton and Yes. Was festival seating but our gate wouldn't open. Total riot because we could see people running in the other 3 gates grabbing all the best spots in front of the stage. In the melee I was heeled in the eye by someone climbing over the 8 foot fence. Was unconscious for a bit they tell me as my pals dragged me off to the side but I don't remember that part..Some biker looking guys basically tore the gate open. The eye became totally closed. I went to first aid after we got in and all settled. The young paramedic asked me what kind of drugs I planned to do and I told him just weed and beer. He told me that was fine and to hold the cold beer against my head but to stay away from acid or other hallucinogens because I probably wouldn't enjoy them in my current state. While leaving first aid they carried in a guy who's collar bone got broke when his buddies bodily threw him over the fence. Actually it was a great show. Mason and Frampton were very good. Yes came on right at dusk and were just great.

70s. Lynrd Skynrd opened for The Who. It was The Who's first tour since Quadraphenia and was highly anticipated. Apparently the Skynrd front man took exception to the fact that the crowd wasn't giving them the attention he thought was warranted and hawked up a big loogie and sent it into the crowd at the end of their set. I thought they kinda sucked anyway.
