Our year 11 students had the opportunity to visit Poetry Live! at the Brighton Dome. They heard from award-winning poets Imtiaz Dharker and Daljit Nagra, as well as Poet Laureate Simon Armitage, who read from his anthology.

It was fantastic to be able to mark our Year 11 mock exam results with a celebration assembly. We’re so proud of the work and effort that they have all put in so far, as they are already seeing the results!

Congratulations to our Year 8 trampoline squad, who were excellent at the first ever Brighton & Hove trampoline competition held at PACA last week. The whole team was exceptional, with Amber coming 1st, Gali, 2nd, and Orla, 4th. We look forward to the next competition!

Our senior students are now looking very smart in their new gold-striped senior student ties. A special thanks goes to Miller, who managed to get these supplied free of charge by Khalsa Schoolwear!

During their Girls in STEM visit to Hove Park School, our Year 9 girls had the chance to participate in a range of workshops that offered hands-on experiences in physics, engineering, maths, and coding. They were all inspired by the opportunities available to them in science.

Congratulations to our Year 8 boys, who had an incredible 8-1 victory over Aldworth, Basingstoke, in the 6th round of the ESFA National Cup. They have progressed further in the National Cup than any other Blatch team and are now through to the final 16. We wish them all the best!

We were lucky enough to welcome @SpeakersTrust to introduce a new group of students to the Speak Out Challenge. After selecting a topic to discuss, each student received guidance on how to present it to a group, as well as its structure and hooks.

We had a fantastic time at the Inter Schools Bouldering Competition at Boulder Brighton. Our students had to complete as many climbs, within the given time, as possible, with bonus points for reaching the summit first and for getting to specific zones.

Thank you to @sussexuni for hosting a wonderful Girls in STEM programme that encourages girls to think about studying physics at university. They loved everything from a spectroscopy workshop, a planetarium visit, a research lecture and an infrared camera session.

Our Year 10 triple science pupils have successfully cloned cauliflowers this week. This is a popular way to look at tissue culture and totipotency and due to their thorough preparation, they had some great results.

It’s always a pleasure to welcome Jack from 'Dare to Dream' to Blatch to speak with our Year 9s. Our students were introduced to their mentors for the programme and given a motivational talk that aimed to give them the confidence to realise their own goals and potential.

As part of their PSHE programme, some of our Year 9s met with ‘Positive Voices’ from the Terrence Higgins Trust, who offer educational talks about their personal experiences of living with HIV. It was great to hear so many great questions and understanding from our students.
