Today, Blackrock ETSS was delighted to receive confirmation from the Dept. of Education that the decision to grant planning permission for the permanent school building project on Newtownpark Avenue was received from An Bord Pleanála. The Dept. may now tender for building.
Many thanks to our school community, and in particular, Good Designs, for aiding us in designing our new school crest. The upper half of the symbol represents seabirds in flight, with the lower half showing us the sea reflecting our location in the south east of Dublin.
Woodwork tables and equipment have arrived at Blackrock ETSS! Wood Technology is just one of 9 option subjects that our first year students will be trying out in September!

A fantastic evening of discussions&preparations for our school's commencement in August. The level of enthusiasm&engagement from our parent body&teaching staff was exciting, and we are full steam ahead to bring Educate Together education to Booterstown, Blackrock& Dún Laoghaire.

We gave “The Outsiders” a “6” in our first BookClub meeting. In general, members enjoyed the way it was told and the circular ending. However, discussion was had from members who felt women were not represented in the world of Ponyboy and Sodapop! Our next book is A Monster Calls

We had a great end to Active Week with our first ever school tour to Baltinglass! The students (and teachers) engaged in loads of fun activities from kayaking to archery to rock climbing and zip-lining

It is with great sadness that we offer our condolences to Colm's family, school community, and all who those fortunate enough to have known him. He was a man of rigorous intellect, unrivalled passion for education, a sage board member, and true friend. We will miss him greatly.
We are all so terribly sad to lose Colm Kehoe, founding principal of ETSS Wicklow. An outstanding school leader and a committed and innovative educator who always put students first.

Today’s Book Club had an interesting discussion on Sarah Crossan’s ‘Toffee’. Lots of interesting opinions exchanged and debated. Next month’s book is Michael Morpurgo’s ‘Private Peaceful’ as nominated by student, Shea.
This month’s Book Club discussed Mark Haddon’s brilliant ‘The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-time.’ It got a resounding 9/10 from students. Next month’s book is Agatha Christie’s seminal ‘And Then There Were None.’
A momentous day for Blackrock ETSS as our girls' football team had their first competitive match in the FAI Minor division against Nord Anglia. Though the result didn';t go our way, it was fantastic to see the effort and enthusiasm of our ladies in a thrilling fixture.

Last week all students at Blackrock ETSS went to see the Zurich Young Portrait Prize at National Gallery of Ireland. We walked to the gallery and had great fun in Merrion Square along the way. The students enjoyed seeing such impressive artwork exhibited by children their own age

Congratulations to our 2nd year Lynn class in submitting their letter to Senator Mary Fitzpatrick in support of the naming of the new children's hospital after Kathleen Lynn. Their feedback will be delivered to 1916 Relatives Association on their behalf. Well done 2Lynn!
Alex in 2nd will be representing the school this Sunday, 19th November, at the All-Ireland Schools Combined Events 2023 in Athlone. Alex qualified for this event after finishing in 1st place at the recent Leinster Combined Events. Best of luck, Alex!
