Thinking of happiness and wellbeing: I’ve never wanted to be famous or rich, or special.
This is all I want: All I’ve ever wanted: a safe, healthy, happy and adored family.
Treasure beyond measure.
❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
Can we please please move away from describing people as ‘the Band 2’s’?
They are more than their salary banding, and far more interesting as valued colleagues.
Whenever I read about Annual Nursing Awards, my heart sinks. It always seems to be those who ‘catch the eye’, are escalated, and that’s great.
But: what of the quieter ones, who don’t ‘self promote’, those who work constantly at max capacity to support others. They matter too. 👍🏻
Anyone that runs study days/away days etc.
Please understand that icebreakers,group-hugs, applauding each other, is so deeply uncomfortable to some, they can’t concentrate for wondering what is coming next.
And it’s not only the overtly quiet ones😱
PS: It’s not you it’s us 🤫
@MedRegoncall1
Geries ward??? Did I just read that right?
@Trisha_the_doc
Are they given no tuition on professional politeness and boundaries, let alone the clinical issues? 🤔🤔🤷🏼♀️
@AAsaanderson
@willcarling
Think the V formation dwarfing the Haka triangle was extraordinarily brilliant psychological move: with varying connotations!
@MrPMHarrison
@PhillippaW2
@QWalesUK
This isn’t going to happen because he will be in US on 5 July, and the
@Conservatives
will not be in power.
This is purely a quickly- planned distraction from facts of loss of party structure/ unity/morals and direction.
@hedges_nicola
You fell into my timeline, and I’m so glad you did: what a glorious photograph!
Wishing you many years of absolute happiness and health.
😍😍😍😍😍😍
@DrRobgalloway
I cannot even begin to imagine the chaos of a meds round with relatives: it sounds unsafe, unstaffed +I would not want to do that.
I’ve also seen many occasions where ‘other’ patients are vastly disturbed by thoughtless, noisy visitors.
Wards are noisy enough!
No, please, no.
@MeakinMiss
‘It's a way to visibly support our LGBTQ+ learners’
At the **direct expense** of those who require calm and muted environments to support their wellbeing and learning.

Did you not take any specialist advice before doing this? 🤷🏼♀️🤷🏼♀️🤷🏼♀️😳

I hope and pray that she is well and returned safely to you very soon. It’s a good sign that she has her kitten, I think?
Although you don’t know me, just know you are held in my thoughts, with love. Mx
@jwahjwah
@susanreadsbooks
I wholly understand your anger and distress: I would be angry and distressed too.
But there is NO ‘deprioritisation’: ever, and it’s not pleasant for tired and stressed staff to read this.
(Triage is done using a clinical necessity tool).
My husband is one of those people who does things quietly with no fuss: this morning he got up at 03:30 to (successfully) find petrol for my car.
#hero
It often seems to be a high octane event, full of videos and smiley faces: and maximal Comms.
But let’s be honest here; there are rarely surprises, because the ‘winners’ are ‘known’.
But they’re not ‘better ‘than those who haven’t been nominated: they are, however, higher profile
This may not go down well with everyone: I’m sorry for that.
But can we recognise that NHS colleagues who don’t have ‘mask marks’ are JUST as Valued, JUST as valuable, and JUST as exceptional as the others who choose to portray themselves thus?
We owe a huge debt to ALL of them.
@DrRobgalloway
I still maintain that all senior leads, clinical or not, need to get out onto the floor to experience the day / night for themselves.
Reading reports is NOT EFFECTIVE due diligence or Board Assurance: it just is not.
So it that really what it’s about? Being higher profile? Rather than ‘better’?
It’s a tricky one, but hugely loaded in favour of those who are front line, escalated or simply better at catching the eye.
So, to those ‘less successful’: we see you, and applaud you. You matter! 👍🏻
Trying to understand why in NHS we say we’re trying to look after our colleagues: but meetings start at 08:00, sometimes run until 18:00, and no one has lunch as they are ‘doing the day job’ as well as all the t/cons! 🙄🙄🤐🤦🏼♀️🤷🏼♀️🤷🏼♀️
@j_b_kennedy
They do! 30 months in. The pain decreased in intensity and duration: then stopped: completely!!!!! I have some of my life back although still forget names, and intermittent tachy and sob on minimal exertion.
But SO much better: and hearing of others like this too 😍

@BBCNews
People will say ‘because it’s Pride month’
But we don’t have eg a Cancer month, a Childhood month, a Christian month. . . . 🤷🏼♀️🤔
A plea: when you send an email, pls can u review the tone before you send it?
I know we’re working incredibly fast, but I am absolutely distraught by one received this morning.
I am sure the intention was not to hurt, but it has.
And I definitely didn’t need that today. 😕
‘We must never forget the sorrow and heartbreak’: does not fit with the ludicrously inappropriate grins shown here.
What in God’s name were you thinking?
@MattHancock
@SafetySamFoster
?
Do you have NO idea how this has landed, or was it simply too good a photo op?
Shameful😡

We need them to urgently provide professional guidance on appropriate staffing
We need understanding of what diminished care standards may look like.
And we need some active Comms ASAP TY
Today, I’m leaving
@BucksHealthcare
after an amazing year of secondment. It’s a great trust, with many fab ppl doing truly wonderful work, and I’ll miss them! 😐
But: I’m returning to another Trust I love with amazing ppl and fabulous work
@SolentNHSTrust
.
I’m so lucky 😊💙😊
@sharrond62
Please: you are admirable for a whole raft of reasons, but don’t speak about things you don’t know, as you have a large following.
We absolutely NEED our non clinical staff: porters, domestics, secretarial, audit, finance, soft FM, estates, electricians, quality +safety teams!
@TheMoominmama
@thenorthface
@pattiegonia
Won’t be the only one.
Companies + shareholders are going to have to wake up, **read the room +balance sheet**, and understand the purchasing power. (who buys ‘for the family’ rather than just for themselves?)
That’s right: women!
And they *won’t* be spending that money here.
For weeks, I’ve been reading of many ppl I know/admire suddenly feeling worried or uncertain.
I didn’t, ever, and it bothered me.
Today, with no warning, I feel 😐and can’t see a way forward.
I don’t need replies, but it just feels: uncertain.
And I don’t like it.
At all.
@glambystefania
Individualised’?
What do you even mean?
And no, PA’s should be assistants, until their value is assessed, proven, agreed.
And only if patients fully understand and consent.
@bbclaurak
You have many followers so please: can you PLEASE stop saying about ‘PEOPLE RETURNING TO WORK’?
It is sloppy language with inconsistent and incorrect messaging: people did not ‘stop working’, they worked from home, sometimes in very difficult circumstances.
Do not demean them
@Bexmo
@metpoliceuk
It would be equally nice if you could stop acting ever so entitled, realise we have a national emergency and just get on with sticking with what we have been advised instead of quoting your ‘rights’ 🙄
One of the happiest days of my life, and not even afternoon yet. Beach walk in Luss, brunch in Inveraray, bought presents for family. Now at Loch Fyne smokery; happy husband, dogs, me😊. And it’s warm, sunny, calm and beautiful .
Thank you God 🏴😊
@SpiritedSparr0w
This is a shocking and deeply disturbing thing to write under the guise of ‘professional expertise’.
How very damaging.
I won’t be reading more as I think it is profoundly crass.
@RebekahPierre92
How absolutely terrifying: and so crippling to one’s self esteem.
Leads to fear of abandonment, feelings of perpetual lack of worth: and immense observational skill, sitting back, watching, assessing, reflecting.
@Leicnut
@mmamas1973
They might well be/are ‘an asset’, but they r not doctors+should absolutely not be described as ‘medically-trained’. That implies full medical school
This play on semantics has real risk attached to it+feels frankly dishonest.
Unfair to patients to let them assume this

@Andy_Coates
How Great Thou Art (loudly!)
I really miss church, and singing 😐 something deep and meaningful.
A virtual full scale choir, anyone??
Ave Verum? 😊😊😊😊😊
Today, I have been married for thirty years. ❤️
Check out my new profile photograph and you will see that although I’m older, wider, whiter and ?Wiser, some things never change!
My husband to be sent mock invitations out saying I was marrying Barney the West Highland.
😘🐾❤️🐾
This is the face of a sleepy Princess who has a birthday today!
Several great meals planned for her to share with her brothers, before a visit to the toy shop and a walk in her favourite park ❤️🐾❤️
@DrPragyaAgarwal
I just find the whole photographic shebang completely inappropriate, with those highly educated females cooing over toddler who should not be there.
He adds nothing to the occasion except raise questions of appropriateness 🙄🙄🙄
@sharrond62
You cannot PRIORITISE TREATMENT if you don’t have non clinical staff to:
write the letters, clean the wards, do the safety checks, undertake quality audit, cook and serve meals, take pts to appointments, take samples to labs, order stores, replace lightbulbs, plan estate projects
I’m now on AL +looking forward to some downtime.
Planning good food, favourite beach, time to read, write,and spend >time with dog,family, friends + Bella (car)
After that, delighted to return to working with
@karenabonner2
@BucksHealthcare
.
Have fun,speak soon

Darling daughter just left: 🥲. I just went into her room to draw the curtains: she’s stripped the bed, re-made it, dusted and left a plant: plus a freezer full of deliciousness.
Feeling blessed!🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻❤️💕
It’s my very first check in as a beginner (and a
#LongCovid
beginner at that!)
Only 7.8 miles, over 2 days: v lazy day today as completely pouring: yuk!
Anyway, it’s a small start💙
#NHS1000miles
Just driven back from seeing our fabulous colleagues at Buckingham Hospital. 🎄🎄🎄. Listening to R2 Christmas songs and heard ‘Santa’s a Scotsman ‘
💙❤️🎄🏴🎅🏼😍
Okay, so lunch is slightly delayed as the chef is in bits (usually a non-crier).
I am now the very proud possessor of a Steiff Nightingale bear, complete with hospital badge!
I ALWAYS wanted a Steiff bear as a little girl, but sooooo expensive.
And . . Look!
So sad. Wonderful, beautiful, talented and vastly entertaining daughter just cooked another wonderful lunch before returning to London after her very prolonged stay at home.
#lockdown2020
We will miss her immensely, but so fab to see the amazing adult she has become.
❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
@SepsisUK
Read this. Then read it to your wife +family.
Ron,
You are utterly fabulous.
Your work saved our son’s life.
We absolutely believe in you.
And, for what it’s worth: you are named daily in our morning and evening prayers.
Thank God for you and your team.🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻
(Better now?) 💙
@DrBalsamAhmad
@proudcharlotte1
I wear mine ALL the time outside: not just going into shops. We’re the ones who are right. Stick with it. Sending some NHS love 💕💙💕
I just keep having to look at this 😊!
Recognition of yr hard work in *every single*service line, where you consistently provide personalised care.
Every single team, in heavy snow and sweltering heat, you delivered great care in our communities
😊🙏🏻😘
A bit late to the party, just watched ‘The Salisbury poisonings’. Excellent drama, great performances. But the best bit?
The last 30 seconds: a master stroke.
RIP Dawn Sturgess.
THIS is the face of a fraud. Woke me up ‘cos need to go out’ then ran into kitchen, tail wagging: straight to the biscuit stash!
Reader, she won. 🍪🍪🍪
Oh God, I love this dog 🤣🤣🤣🤣🐾🐾🐾❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️😘😘😘😘😘😘😘😘
#Theperfectprincess
@VictoriaAtkins
@MelJStride
Please do not ‘free up GP appointments’ by giving them to non doctors.
That is providing less of a service, potentially lethal + with no obvious valid consent from pts who are largely unaware of these horrendous shenanigans.
Stop being ‘economical with the truth’.
WE SEE YOU!
Sometimes I think it would be so nice just to be: a hermit.
Does anyone else absolutely crave time alone?
No ppl/ no problems/ no requests.
Just space and time and joy in dogs/ books/ silence.
Sigh. . . .
@allisonpearson
Please, consider the professional damage you are doing to yourself when you exhibit a lack of understanding of areas way outside your competence level. If you need help to understand, then ask the people working there who are experts.
Your assumptions are critically flawed.
Please can ppl stop writing ‘hospitals will see x no of staff off sick’?
Can you please realise you mean Trusts, not hospital buildings??
NHS have many many staff working in community as well, and the impact will be felt there also: they too will need colleagues to replace them!
@patcullen9
I’m completely loving the way I think you planned this.
Lose a small battle over a few hours.
Win the entire war with population on your side.
Pat, are you a secret grandmaster?
Was this a pawn sacrifice??
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Let’s all get this message out. Just because you don’t THINK someone is struggling, doesn’t mean they aren’t. Let’s look out for each other, and be kind and accessible, no matter how busy.
@CharlotteAugst
@ClareGerada
Context is all: which is closer/ easier for patient?
This shouldn’t be professional protectionism, but putting patient in centre and asking THEM what works best for them.
Surely?
🤷🏼♀️🤷🏼♀️💙🙏🏻
Many know I was seconded to
@BucksHealthcare
during the pandemic.
It’s the most wonderful trust.
A close friend recently treated there told me:
Brilliant care: phlebotomy to radiology, pre assessment to theatre to itu, to community/oncology/chemo teams.
*Every single contact*
Last night we moved a patient from one ward to another, so they could hold their partner’s hand as they died.
Two hospital beds pushed together. Hands stretched out and holding each other. Emotional for everyone.
We still provide the best care we can, despite everything.
@thetimes
@Anthea_Gilbert
And some of the comments about colleagues are disgraceful, and I most certainly will not buy or recommend this book, based on even a few of the excerpts.
This should not IMO been published as appears to be a glory fest at the expense of medical and other staff.
**Unhelpful**
