While making chai masala my curious 1 yr old is often in my arms. One time, I grabbed the jar of green cardamom pods and she yelled to try it. So I popped a pod in her mouth. That's how I discovered what many folks around the world already knew — it's incredible for teething!

Definitely forgot to mention that you must add 3 pinches of black tea, simmer for a few more minutes (I hover between 2-4), strain and drink with the sweetener of your choice.
For awhile, I've been playing around with different homemade chai recipes. I've landed so far w/: 2 cinnamon sticks, 3 smashed green cardamom pods, 3 whole cloves, and 3 (1/2 in) ginger slices. Boil until a deep color. Add milk to replace lost water. Strain and drink.
