Polar bears used to be the poster child of climate change. But their numbers have been increasing: from 5-10k #polarbears in the 1960s, up to around 26k today. We don’t hear this news. Instead, campaigners just quietly stopped using them in their activism.

Five years ago Greta Thunberg tweeted that. “climate change will wipe out all of humanity unless we stop using fossil fuels over the next five years.". The tweet is now deleted.

Just silly:. John Kerry claims at Davos that 50% of all species have been killed. No. The right number is about 0.7%. Just one of the many remarkable things he's been saying at Davos
Honest: green transition will cost you a fortune. No, won't make us rich. Cost us $5+ trillion every year. (if green was cheaper, we'd all be doing it). John Kerry, flying into Davos, telling everyone:. green transition needs money, money, money.

The fundamental immorality of prioritizing climate trillions to achieve little a century from now. When people across the world struggle with poverty, disease, malnutrition, and bad education — which can be efficiently tackled at a tiny fraction of the climate trillions. #COP29

Paul Ehrlich has been wrong about almost everything. In 1970, he predicted the world would utterly break down before 1985. It would be unable to support humanity. Didn't happen. That's not a mistake, Ehrlich. It is called being fundamentally wrong.
60 Minutes extinction story has brought the usual right-wing out in force. If I'm always wrong so is science, since my work is always peer-reviewed, including the POPULATION BOMB and I've gotten virtually every scientific honor. Sure I've made some mistakes, but no basic ones.

Today, the Great Barrier Reef is better than ever. But 12 years ago, we were told about the "Great Reef Catastrophe". and how the reef would be almost gone today. Moral of the story: Don't always believe the scare stories. Refs:

This has to stop:. AP makes up story to blame Hawaii fires on climate. Peer-reviewed science finds no climate signal in Hawaii drought In unrelated news: AP gets $8 million to push climate alarm
We're well into the "have you no shame?" phase of climate reporting where "facts" are just invented out of whole cloth . AP: "Hawaii went from lush to bone dry and thus more fire-prone in a matter of just a few weeks" Data: HI drought to 8 Aug 23

Misinformation experts are perhaps not quite unbiased. "Experts leaned strongly toward the left of the political spectrum". Data from Harvard Misinformation Review, survey of 150 misinformation experts.

Electricity is now so expensive that the average German used less electricity in 2023 than in 1978. Greens praise the lower emissions. but German de-industrialization is nothing to celebrate. Data:
Congrats to Germany. Super-expensive but ineffective climate policies mean. De-industrialization. with small climate benefit.

Al Gore climate catastrophizing in Davos. No, oceans not boiling. No, you can't just claim a billion refugees. — in 2005 UN predicted 50m refugees by 2010. Didn't happen, got scrubbed from website. We need smart climate policy, not catastrophizing
.@algore goes on an epic rant at @Davos - amid charges of climate hypocrisy. @BjornLomborg weighs in today on @AmericaRpts

Blaming deadly weather events on climate change instead of taking responsibility for mismanaging flood warning systems or forest management is convenient for politicians. But their claims aren't supported by the data. My new op-ed for @WSJ:

We're not being informed well:. This week, Nature magazine (and most other media) played up a new paper predicting the end of the Great Barrier Reef. Same week, the actual data: never better. data and links:
Great Barrier Reef never better. Annual measurements since 1986 show their highest point for 2024. But you won't know because. 1) The measuring institute stopped publishing a reef-wide index when things got too good. Instead, their 2024 report, published this week, mostly talk up

Great Barrier Reef report by the Australian Academy of Science:. Lots of facts and figures on gender and race of participants. But it forgot to mention 𝙝𝙤𝙬 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙧𝙚𝙚𝙛 𝙞𝙨 𝙙𝙤𝙞𝙣𝙜. Well, here are the newly released stats, although inconvenient.
"I have been saying for some time that many of our #science institutions have become totally untrustworthy. By its wilful abandonment of quantitative analysis, the AAS has destroyed its reputation as a source of useful scientific advice." - Peter Ridd.

This is how crazy climate alarmism has becoming. 41% of French people are in favor of max 4 flights 𝗶𝗻 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗶𝗿𝗲 𝗹𝗶𝗳𝗲. Let's just say this once more. Climate is a problem, not end-of-world.It will not be solved by making people worse off but through innovation.
41% of French population is in favour of a proposal to limit everyone to 4 flights in their entire life. 59% of 18-24 year-olds agree. 2 return flights. Not per year: per life.

Cold kills much more than heat on every continent. US+Canada: 20K heat but 171K cold (8x more). Europe 179K vs 657K cold (4x). Africa 1.2m cold deaths. Asia 2.4m cold deaths. Yet, most reporting focus on heat deaths, because it fits the climate narrative.

It is really hard to argue that greening the planet is bad — would you really rather have had it browning? . The world is greening, and it is good.
CO₂ and climate make the world greener. Over 2001-20 the world added so many new leaves. the additional leaf area is equivalent to 1.4x the area of the Contiguous US. Climate net problem. but breathless reporting ignores an ever-greening world.

How stupid.
Yesterday, Germany closed down its final 3 nuclear reactors. Calls had been made to keep them open until 2033 & to reopen another 3 reactors shut down in 2021. However, Scholz decided to continue the accelerated phase-out plan announced by Merkel 3 days after Fukushima in 2011.
