All persons in distress within Malta’s SAR zone should be rescued & their safety should always be guaranteed. Saving lives & ensuring their disembarkation at a safe place is a fundamental legal obligation and also a moral imperative that can in no way be negotiated or renounced.

Malta was blessed in welcoming a group of 276 people shipwrecked on our shores in circa AD 60. Among them was a prisoner called Paul of Tarsus. The apostle of Jesus Christ brought us healing in body and spirit. Rome’s captive for Jesus set us Maltese free.

I fully support the Joint NGO Statement. Difficult situations should elicit the best in us. The first thought for humans in distress is that they are human beings. Closed doors; closed ports; closed hearts: very sad indeed.

Joint NGO statement on the @MaltaGov decision to close #Malta ports to #NGO #rescue ships. The consequences of this measure are potentially fatal, as the vessels will no longer be able to continue saving lives in the #MediterraneanSea

It was with great joy that I ordained 4 men to the Order of Deacon on Saturday 27 June 2020 at the Parish Church of St Catherine of Alexandria, Zejtun, MT. Two of the new deacons hail from the Zejtun Parish; another deacon comes from Hamrun and the fourth is a Franciscan Capuchin

Our young, generally unsung, heroes who spent a Saturday summer morning cleaning our beautiful seas are a sign of hope and an example of a civic spirit! Kudos! Well done!
