This week, the school library has been transformed into Narnia. Beginning with the journey through the wardrobe, students have experienced what it was like for the characters to emerge onto the snowy path and into the magical land. (p1of3)

Today the Spanish trip have been on an interesting Street Art tour, exploring the messages and me sing behind the artworks. They have also visited Parc Guell, learning about Antonio Gaudi and his work. This continued with a visit to Sagrada Familia.

Yesterday, seven Year 8 students created their display to represent BHA at this year's Tatton Park flower show. The team grafted throughout the day to dig in the plants they have grown and maintained this year.

To end our World Book Day celebrations, we took our student librarians to the new Hanley Library for a session with Librarian Chris on how to effectively promote books & reading in school. We really recommend a visit if you've not been yet, it's a fantastic space!

Today, we commemorated
#Remembrance
Day at

. A short service took place at the war memorial, with the raising of the flag, poetry and a reading with names of soldiers from Birches Head who died in the war. We are proud of our student leadership team.

Students watched a presentation by the organisation "Sent Into Space" who provided all the information & inspiration they need to complete this year’s challenge: to launch a science experience into the troposphere, 30km above the Earth’s surface using a weather balloon! (2 of 2)

As we settle into a new term, we are delighted to announce that KS3 students have read an incredible 547 books between them, both at home and during their library lessons, since January. Gryffindor are currently leading the tally, but it's all to play for as we race to summer!

expedition went out at the weekend. It was a practice, ready for their qualifying expedition next weekend. They walked in challenging heat but were rewarded with the Northern Lights above their tents before fading off to sleep.

It was an 'Apprentice' style challenge for our pupils in

on Friday evening. Two teams, 10€ per team, and five items to locate and purchase. A great opportunity to practise speaking Spanish! Which team will win a treat, and which team will get fired?! 🫵🏼

Despite a very early start, our students met their Spanish partners for the first time and got to know each other better. For many of our students, it was their first time away from the Uk. They have all demonstrated resilience and problem solving.

During a recent politics lesson, year 8 recreated an impeachment trial. The jury were extremely thorough and, having heard a series very impressive speeches from both the prosecution and defence teams, they concluded that Donald Trump is guilty.

World Book Day
On Thursday, Hogwarts came to BHA as part of our World Book Day celebrations. The library was magically transformed into the Great Hall and students from across KS3 were invited to take part in a different themed activity during each hour of the day. (P1of3)

Yesterday we held the grand opening of our state of the art 3G MUGA Pitch.
Legend Lou Macari was invited to officially cut the ribbon and declare the facility open. A huge thank you to everyone who took part.

Our 12 pupils have arrived in the ski resort in Italy and have enjoyed their first morning of ski lessons. There is lots of snow and the weather is bright and sunny. All are having a fantastic time.

Our Silver Dofe students had a great night in camp and spirits were high ready for their second day. Then the rain came over breakfast and has continued since. So it's a day for waterproof trousers and ruck sack covers. At least it makes them easy to spot for staff.

This week, our KS3 library classes have been to the beach. By exploring a range of different objects found at the seaside, the students were able to get their creative juices flowing, coming up with some amazing vocabulary to describe the imagery, textures, smells and taste!

On Thursday, our ECO club took part in the Young Tree Champion Project 2022 by planting 5 broadleaf trees. The trees will mark the Queen’s Jubilee this year and will help to reduce the Academy’s carbon footprint, as well as encouraging even more wildlife into our local area.

Last week the Noisy Library Club were busy little elves, helping Santa to launch a brand new Christmas challenge in the library. Students simply have to find a book with a secret challenge inside it, complete the challenge and return it to Mrs. Sanders in January to win a prize.
