I realize that most of you are here for Dragon Age news and there hasn't been a lot of that lately...
Let me just run down some things I an say:
1. We are working on the next Dragon Age
2. Yes we are working from home
3. Working from home is harder
4. We are making progress
@BioMarkDarrah
And a relief for many others.
I’ve worked with you for over 10 years as the voice of Cullen (and Anders)
@dragonage
& have never worked w a more DISLOYAL, duplicitous corporate fake
Your enforced *resignation* is a victory for
@bioware
,its employees & particularly the fans.
Is there some world where you imagine that your behavior with regards to me and the community in general would actual cause you to EVER be hired on a Dragon Age game?
I'm not sure if this is performative in some way in order to get the attention of a different group, but it CERTAINLY isn't going to endear you to a company that cares about its public appearance
Your choices. Your squad. Your Shepard. Relive the legend in a remastered edition of the highly acclaimed trilogy. Mass Effect Legendary Edition arrives Spring 2021.
Here’s what I remember about Dragon Age 2:
We went into a board room in late 2009 to find something to cover for SWTOR slipping and then we shipped a game in March 2011...
Oh, and I wanted to call it Dragon Age: Exodus. Which we SHOULD have
You really don't understand what is happening right now do you?
Thank you for the invite but I think you have gotten enough of a signal boost from me today Greg.
@BioMarkDarrah
Is there some world where you imagine that your behavior with regards to me, the community and your fellow BioWare employees in general would cause you to EVER be hired by another video game company?
Open invitation to come on my show to discuss.
This is infuriating.
You should WANT THIS!
The more reuse of this kind of stuff, the more that can be spent on NEW things
Rebuilding the wheel so that a game isn’t accused of reuse is a PLAGUE on this industry.
Dragon Age 2 is the PROJECT (not PRODUCT) I am most proud of. The team did what needed to be done in the time we had.
The end result us flawed but we shipped

So how’s the Anthem demo different from the game?
- we start you in the middle
- no tutorials
- no pilot picker
- balance is super different
- economy is completely different
- 6 weeks less bug fixes
...
Our default stance is to try not to reuse quantum characters. That is characters who can be in a lot of different states after a previous game (especially if they might be dead)
We did it with Liliana but I think that had something to do with
@Mike_Laidlaw
's stance on redheads.
Not a fix, BUT:
If you are hitting the 95% load hang
Try quitting out and restarting. You may get a message, "Game server detected, do you want to rejoin?" say yes. That MAY get past the block.
Again, not a fix, but it may get you past.
So.
The Alpha’s on.
And I’m seeing some chatter about connectivity issues to the servers.
2 things:
1. This is one of the primary purposes of the test.
2. You are actually in violation of your NDA if you are publicly discussing issues you are having.
I’m sure that everyone is going to react to this with maturity and grace:
After having them open for 3 years, I’m going to close my DMs
Everyone’s been fine in there but I realize that I almost NEVER respond to DMs
So rather then leave them as this black hole, I’m closing them
@Floofffy
@BioMarkDarrah
Mark Darrah just gets on a stage, yells out 'HEY, HOW ABOUT THAT DRAGON AGE, HUH?" then leaves.
Crowd cheers. Fans feel blessed. DA is trending. 100 news articles posted break downs. A dozen youtube videos getting angry for no reason. People want more. The cycle continues.
Former BioWare executive producer Mark Darrah has returned to work on Dragon Age: Dreadwolf as a consultant. The Mass Effect team will help ship the game.
One day Jason Schreier is gonna tweet like: Activision Blizzard exec sent an email to staff this afternoon. Email was titled FOR THE LOVE OF GOD STOP TALKING TO JASON SCHREIER
Halfway through my trip to Barcelona!
I’m here showing Anthem internally to EA. I am EP of BOTH DA and Anthem working with
@Bio_Warner
as Game Director
Anthem’s up next but there are people hard at work on both franchises and I look forward to sharing more in the future
If I’ve done the math correctly, today marks the day when I’ve worked for BioWare for half my life
...
Which means my life is an expanding series
...
Which means I’m immortal!
@BioMarkDarrah
Quick say something "Dragon Age-y 4"...something something "Tevinter!"
Something that won't trigger, you know, revenue recognition but still "spicy!" nonetheless
“being an inclusive company means being inclusive of all those points of view.”
No it fucking doesn’t.
If your stance denies someone’s right to exist, you have an exclusive point of view. You can not be inclusive of those.
I have been reluctant to the rioting in the US
But I realize that remaining silent IS saying something
Something not good
So here we go
I expect this will blow up in my face
From its vast open plains to its sky-piercing peaks, the stories and lands of Thedas grow because of you.
Thank you for being our amazing fans these ten wonderful years.

Here is another screen shot. I've reduced the resolution a BIT to make it upload faster:

I won't let me upload a 1x1 JPG. dammit!
Fine, I'll uprez it again:
...
It seems to have lost some detail.
Who should you be following to be respectfully trolled about Dragon Age?
@eplerjc
and
@PatrickWeekes
Of course
@ChristianDailey
has some ground to make up (and he's very nice about it)
@NorseArtemis
if you need a Solasmancer with the math to back her up...
-Dorian’s arc is about BEING gay. Not sure how you write that if he isn’t.
- of course you have to write multiple romances. You just don’t have to write multiple romances for every single character
@BioMarkDarrah
Assuming that certain conversation topics are only permitted by certain genders is insulting to people of all genders. The second point... if you aren’t willing to put the time in for multiple types of romances, don’t put romances in your games.
