In answering my question on how accountability can be achieved for journalists killed & targeted in Gaza and ensuring press freedoms is not just a slogan, @UNHumanRights Commissioner @volker_turk said this: “For me one thing is very clear, journalists especially those who work in war zones are actually human rights defenders. So I consider you as part of the ecosystem of human rights because without free, independent media, without the coverage of what is happening especially in war zones we would not be able to do our work” “I also hope that there will be investigations into each and every of the deaths. In fact, it seems that Gaza has become the deadliest place for journalists in the reports of 168 journalists and media workers that have been killed last year”
