Prospecting means breaking a lot of rocks and finding stuff. In this case a 4km x 5km gossan with widespread porphyry style propylitic, sericitic and potassic alteration. Heavily leached, possible early Jurassic system, with Cu-Au in a magnetite cemented breccia with pyrite.

Although there is a lot of science involved in mineral as well as placer exploration, often times it comes down to a willingness to work, sweat and get dirty. In this instance hand trenching resulted in a hole that yielded an interesting amount of gold, bug-bites and blisters.
