I design and build everything from furniture to shipping container houses on youtube. HomeMadeModern=DIY channel | The Modern Home Project=Container Houses
@Jason
If social media is the digital version of the town square shouldn’t we expect street performers? Is it any stranger than spray painting yourself silver and pretending to be a statue?
We are launching
@hoek_home
a line of flat packed furniture that assembles in less than 60 seconds with NO TOOLS REQUIRED and it’s made from sustainable materials
Working on pool furniture that won’t blow away. I made reusable molds out of scrap linoleum and plywood cut with my
@ryobitoolsusa
and $40 worth of
@quikreteconcrete
filled them. Still adjusting the geometry and then I will make a more refined CNC mold and make the production run
I think that creativity is a feeling that combines curiosity and optimism that can bubble up into experimenting and making! I am not always sure how my projects will turn out but my willingness to try seems to align with how hopeful I feel.
working on some modular furniture designs. I used walnut from
@shopf2h
cut up plate steel with my
@ryobitoolsusa
angle grinder and then used my
@forneyind
welder to fabricate these slide on bench legs. I finished both the wood and steel with SIMPLE FINISH by MakerBrand
I am using the dirt in my backyard to form concrete furniture! It’s fun and only required a few basic tools. I rinsed the local dirt to get sand and just added $45 of Portland cement
experimenting with my
@inventables
x-carve pro which is a robot that is really good at cutting plywood. I am working on modular plant stands that can be stacked to create all sorts of vertical gardens. I will be posting the cnc files to easel for free soon.

FLOATING BED!! No photoshop used on this new bed I am making for
@tuftandneedle
I used a white cedar slab from
@advantagelumber
and then welded a frame that ties into the wall using my
@forneyind
welder. The slab was finished with SIMPLE FINISH by
@makerbrandco
I built a garden inside a wardrobe and turned it into a desk. LED lights allow me to grow real 🌸s I made this a few years ago as an experiment but now I might revisit this idea because suddenly having a little bit of “nature” indoors seems useful and healthy.
I made a table out of
@total_boat
fathom epoxy that holds three 7” pots where I can grow vines that wrap around the legs or herbs to be added to meals. I am still sketching out the chandelier that will hang above which will have grow lights on a timer
I made a lounge chair out of plywood to kick off the
#RocklerBentWoodChallenge
The build video which is live on the HomeMade Modern Youtube channel Thanks to
@rockler_woodworking
for sponsoring I discovered that cavity is the perfect place to store a bottle of
@casamigos
tequila
@drunkenwood
Yes! I feel the same way! Things are meant to be used and it is great if they pick up some character along the way. I want furniture that looks like Danny Trejo not Justin Bieber
Check out the latest issue of
@inc
where I talk about my office set up when I am out on projects in the middle of nowhere. I use
@GoalZero
solar panels and power packs,
@Verizon
jet pack and a
@hoek_home
desk to set up and get online in seconds!
I have been experimenting with broken glass and
@total_boat
epoxy resins. The glass reduces the amount of epoxy needed and acts as a heat sink allowing me to do deeper pours. I tested out my new
@RYOBItoolsusa
variable speed polisher which is making epoxy finishing a lot easier.
@XylaFoxlin
Back to normal after 3 years of being fabulously inflated💰. The start-up D2C brands that were all in on growth are focusing on survival and margins. Similar thing happened to bloggers after 2008. Good time to focus on audience growth as streamers cut back
I have been experimenting with
@total_boat
epoxy since a client asked asked if I could make something that looks like a “futuristic still life painting “

A hot tub carved into a large rock is what I am currently working on for mine. I can source boulders for about $125 per ton and with labor I am looking at 21k all in.
