@TobyFoxArt
Congratulations on the milestone! I find your work so inspiring.
I’ve been sick for the past year so most of my work is on the simpler side but I hope to create more full, detailed illustrations soon
Friendly reminder to all my fellow non-Japanese residents: the people who are most likely in danger of retaliatory violence are Zainichi people and other minorities of Asian descent, not Terrance the 6 ft tall English teacher from Idaho.
I'm sceptical of the idea that anti-blackness and colourism never affects the treatment of individual Palestinians but calling Bisan racist and anti-black for sharing this video is NUTS to me.
@ciaraturnerart
Social media has truly rotted people's brains. There are some incredible artists under 20 but they're the exception, not the rule. People's art journeys don't follow a linear path anyway. I'm 26 and I wish my work was as good as yours lol.
I get that everyone's anxious right now, but whenever things like this happen the scapegoating is usually aimed at people of Chinese or Korean descent, not white people.
@SquigglyDigg
You definitely don't deserve death threats but... I still disagree with this explanation lol. Making a morally good character at the expense of a realistic character would make the film totally forgettable. The flaws are why people love Lilo and Stitch.
My girl was out here saving trafficking victims while those two idiots were fighting over whether after school programs or war crimes would liberate black people worldwide 🥴
@MOLENAIDE
I'd like to add an addendum:
Braids are not permanent but we also aren't taking them down and redoing them every day.
I remember when Mel from Arcane was in bed in one scene and she'd taken her braids out, it took me out of the moment 😭
@niggaolas
For people asking what she did, she unleashed Doctor Oz and Doctor Phil onto the world. She also endorsed some Brazilian faith healer called John of God who was a serial rapist.
There's a handful of non-Japanese people being weird about this like "you don't understand the beautiful perfect culture!" Meanwhile Japanese people are just like "yeah it sucks lol"
It's also very damning that I've seen 100s of comments about her racism and being disappointed in her but this is the only person I've seen share the actual video in question.
I'm begging chronically online Americans to crack open a book, listen to some scholars, SPEAK to some non-American black people OFF TWITTER before opening your mouths to say ridiculous shit like this. Obviously our experiences aren't identical but there's no need for lies.
But black brits didn’t build England from the ground up, weren’t enslaved on the land they live & are still oppressed on for centuries.
Thats the proximity & direct experience of yt ppl OP is referring to.
@TBSkyen
Some people in these comments are like "but they're all fighters so they have a fighter's physique!"
A) no they don't
B) there should still be variation. Magic girl =/= shooter girl =/= martial arts girl
Quit lying to yourselves 😂
@RachelConnoll14
This stuff infuriates me.
1. Western countries with low birth rates contribute far more to climate change/waste
2. The problem isn't population, it's distribution of resources
3. No one ever talks about what happens when you rapidly lower a country's birth rate (hint: it's bad)
@WrittenByHanna
A bunch of different things culminating at once. Most of these tech companies were never really profitable and relied on infinite investment which is drying up. Hired tons of people during the panny leading to overstaffing. The metaverse bs is hemorrhaging money etc etc
Wukong's success largely comes from a Chinese audience being able to see their beloved mythical characters recreated by a local developer. If that isn't representation idk what is
The madlads did it! Black Myth: Wukong has surpassed Dota 2’s all-time peak on Steam, reaching 1,300,979 players.
EA and other companies were wrong. We are thirsty for great non-DEI single-player games, and Black Myth: Wukong proves it. Reject modernity, embrace the monk 😆

@Jokeb0i
@spacejam_kam
@ThatOneNegraux
Some Black fans and artists appreciate when characters have lighter palms because it's more true to real life, it shows that you're actually trying to draw a dark skinned character intentionally and not just doing a light skinned character with a colour swap.
@Quikwest
There was an anti-vaxx nurse in Germany injecting people with saline instead of the vaccine. So yeah, maybe anti-vaxxers shouldn't be allowed near patients.

@Badlandsw0lf
Is there a specific reason you have to adopt from Korea? Idk where you live but I can guarantee there are children in need in your own country. Take some time and think about why you want to adopt a Korean child, and if a minor in the language truly makes you qualified.
@aetheroi
@PKinderen
@m4stiff
You're making jokes to cope, but you're not going to be arrested for being gay in Canada. So you're actually making jokes out of someone else's experience, not your own.
@chaedria
I'm honestly just surprised that this is how you chose to respond to me. If you take all your tweets and explain them to a loved one who doesn't have an active twitter account, I guarantee they'll be very confused. It's good to go get a reality check every now and then.
@angryblkhoemo
Exactly. Criticising a biracial woman for playing the part of a biracial woman makes no sense. Kenya Barris is the one behind the show, and the one who seems convinced that his own life story is the only one worth telling.
@Lj_dagrxt
People in these comments are acting like rich people are smart for investing. They literally pay people to tell them what to do with their money, and I'm sure he's probably invested in companies that didn't go anywhere, but that's less interesting to report on 😂
The wildest part about that ana mardoll drama is that tech is one of the few sectors where you actually can find remote part time work as long as you have the skills/qualifications
@noname
This is exactly why we shouldn't look to celebrities in these times. Most of them don't care to learn because it doesn't benefit them. I'd rather hear from activists and journalists and people who put in the time and research than someone who just googled 'Gaza' and posted on IG.
@ztsamudzi
I love how Hollywood gets to blame homophobia, racism, and colorism in casting on China now like it didn't exist already. Love that for them 😍
@LolaSebastian_
People online have become so fixated on the idea of “own voices” that they’re literally forcing people out the closet and ruining lives just so creators can prove they’re “queer enough” to make LGBTQ+ media 🙄
And then pat themselves on the back for doing an activism
@dangelno
The difference between Bretman Rock and those family channels is that he actually has enough talent that he doesn't have to exploit children just to keep his channel going. He could never put that little girl in front of a camera again and still do fine.
There's been a lot of so called "progressive" people on the English speaking side of Japan Twitter showing that they do not give a fuck about how racism/colorism affects biracial Japanese and POCs this week.
Racism isn't something that you can ignore when it feels inconvenient.
@FBAsAreGodsPpl
@SolerianArian
@ProBlkThought
Has is occured to you that maybe we should be against Israeli apartheid for the sake of Black Palestinians too? Or are you just going to use these people as some kind of gotcha moment?
@BeeBabs
I think a couple people have made a dance now but this was hilarious. The black tiktokers should do this for every new song tbh. Wait a week and let them flounder for a bit.
@GerrickKennedy
I think a lot of pop fans enjoy spectacle more than they enjoy music, hence why they're disappointed by the lack of sparkly things to keep them entertained.
@moneyymaya
Obviously children with disabilities/illnesses should be able to wear wigs, but if you're putting lace fronts on a child for "birthday hair" it'll give them the same insecurities around their natural hair that relaxers do imo.
+ the products used probably aren't good for the skin
Been seeing lots of racist wypipo pandering to East Asian fears+stereotypes lately.
Some idiot is driving around poor Black & Latino neighbourhoods, spreading misinformation to his Korean audience, making out that Black people are inherently violent and will target Koreans.
@Se7enGeez
@ToRealDreaded
@ninamonei
I think it’s more about the white supremacist part than anything else. Tbh it sounds like they played up the racial aspect of his story to “send a message” (not to mention totally changed the context from white/sri lankan family in 80s Scotland)
@lexicon91
@jtbtweetin
Unfollowed a couple months back because she's been slowly liking and tweeting transphobic stuff on here. Disappointing but not surprising.
I've been struggling to recover or find real answers after getting COVID in Jan but listening to an interview on this stream I think I might have mild ME/CFS. It really fits the description of what I've been going through
@Jay_Edgar
@bad_dominicana
Nope. That's a distinction people made up after being embarrassed about getting called out. I know plenty of self-described "expats" who have lived in their new country for 20+ years, settled down, had kids etc.
@SquigglyDigg
@Kalei_Works
I've read the follow-up but I still didn't learn anything? Like you say "X is inaccurate" and link to an article or whatever, but don't really explain why, or what an accurate depiction would look like.
@justinhorowitz_
What makes me laugh about takes like this is it doesn't apply to 99.9% of people anywhere, let alone their audience. The average man can't afford to fly out random women and the average woman isn't looking to get flown out by strangers. None of this is rooted in reality.
@marilyn_moyo
It's even more laughable when you remember that half of these influencers are secretly broke and financially unstable. A lot of people would be better off at a 9 to 5.
@TheKoreanG
@Lonelystarrd22
@TBSkyen
That's totally fair but most female game characters (even the martial artists) don't look like this. The last time someone designed a female character who looked like one of these women gamer bros lost their shit if I remember correctly.
@YaaAsantewaaBa
I was thinking the same thing when I saw people tweeting her name out.i didn't even know it before today, now there's a target on her back.
@DecaturDane
There are a lot of cis straight black men who don't actually want equality, but rather the same power and privilege that white people have over other marginalised communities.
@WilderRJ
@NicoleArbour
There are so many racists who are married to Black people. There are Black people who hate Black people, look at Candace Owens.
@NotAChuuni
@halphelt
I see why it makes you uncomfortable, and for good reason. I think it does take a level of self awareness to acknowledge that a lot of popular artwork even created by Asian artists is based on Eurocentric features though.
