“Not every Be.EV visit has been stress-free…” 🚨 Our first thought? Panic stations! But honestly, it's the real conversations like these that build a better network for everyone. Similar conversations over the years with electric delivery drivers, road-trippers, local top-up'ers and more have crafted the experience on our network today. In case you haven't noticed, we're a little obsessed with customer experience, so any time we get to chat, learn and streamline the charging journey – we're on it!

Headlines love a good EV fire scare, don’t they? So, when a Tesla Model 3 was spotted “SMOKING” at our White City Charging Hub, it probably looked like chaos was unfolding, right? 🔥🚗 But here’s the truth: it’s absolutely nothing to worry about. Let us break it down. EV batteries, much like us humans, thrive when they’re cozy warm – around 25ºC with some even hotter. In cold weather, many EVs pre-heat their battery packs before charging, so even when it’s cold, the battery is toasty and ready to accept the best speeds (think of it like turning the heating on before you get home so it's nice and warm for when you arrive). What you’re seeing isn’t smoke – it’s just water vapour! High-power charging generates a lot of heat, and when the warmth from the battery and the car’s thermal system meets the chilly winter air, it can create a little dramatic puff of steam – nothing to worry about and totally normal throughout the winter months! Hi Martyn, thanks for your comment 💚 For the first photo you can see in the post, this is White City Retail Park Charging Hub, Trafford (📍 M16 0RP) one of our earliest Hubs. Whilst there isn’t a fully PAS1899 complaint bay here, there is a more accessible bay with enhanced spacing and a non-raised charging post (shown below). The second photo you can see in the post is the newer Parkway Central Retail Park Charging Hub, Sheffield (📍 S2 5AU) where we’ve got 9 charging bays live, ready for a total of 20. Whilst unfortunately due to space we couldn’t make every single bay this way – there are two (very green!) accessible charging bays designed to be PAS1899 complaint (shown here)⚡️
