The Present (2020) // Dir : Farah Nabulsi
Yusef along with his daughter goes out to buy his wife a gift. Soldiers all around, segregated roads and checkpoints. It shows how everyday life is so cruel in the West Bank.
Tale of Three Jewels (1995) // Dir : Michel Khleifi
First ever feature film shot entirely in Gaza. A sweet adventure which uses the grim backdrop of Israeli occupation in Gaza as 12 year old Youssef sets out on a quest to win the heart of young Aida.
The Time That Remains (2009) // Dir : Elia Suleiman
Suleiman's masterpiece. A semi biographic film, in four historic episodes, about a family - from 1948, until recent times.
Chronicle of a Disappearance (1996) // Dir : Elia Suleiman
Films of Suleiman are often kinda hard to describe. He explores the role politics play in everyday life of Palestinians beautifully.
Omar (2013) // Dir : Hany Abu-Assad
A very heartbreaking movie about a Palestinian boy who climbs the wall everyday to see the love of his life. Insightful look at the life in occupied Palestine
Five Broken Cameras (2011) // Dir : Emad Burnat
This documentary shows footage filmed during 2005-10 as illegal Israeli settlements encroached upon community land. Essential viewing into understanding the violent occupation & the continued horrors Palestinians face.

Mustafa and his wife Salwa are from two West Bank villages only 200 meters apart but split by Israel’s separation wall. It shows Israeli restrictions separate families and violate the basic rights of Palestinians.

Story of Soraya and Emad within the framework of occupation and colonialism. Soraya travels to Palestine to connect with her heritage while Emad is waiting to leave so that he can live an ordinary life without soldiers.

Beautiful film. Kinda magical. So simple and delicate at times but so powerful as well. Music, direction, cinematography. Almost everything is perfect. Writing and the acting makes it truly special though.
