The Godot Discord is great. I had an algorithm that was taking 60 seconds to run. I asked how I could optimize it and within 30 seconds the community had gotten it down to 152ms lmfao

I've decided to cut ties with Unity. At least until something gets done about "the situation". I'll be leaving the partner program and cancelling any sponsorships I had lined up with them. I won't be attending Unite - which is a horrible, horrible feeling.

The fact that the original proposal even got out of the door gives me very little faith in their leadership. Not to mention the countless other bad decisions I've seen in the last few years.

I’m so glad that everyone is continuing to stand their ground. Making the decision to cut ties with Unity wasn’t easy, but it was necessary.

The issue was actually pretty simple. I was calling GetFaces() like 8 times in that method for some reason. The only change that was needed was caching that data in an array at the beginning of the method.

One thing REALLY annoying me about learning Godot is that most answers online use strings to reference stuff.
I can understand why this might be useful in some cases.
Is there actually a reason that people are choosing to do this over exported references?

Starting work on my next game in a new engine tomorrow.
I genuinely, from the bottom of my heart, hate this. Leaving Unity cost me thousands of dollars in guaranteed revenue.
But at the end of the day, I can’t promote something I don’t believe in.

I'm playing around in Godot today and trying to reference other nodes.
The ONLY way I can find to do this is by using $NodeName, which works fine. But surely there has to be a nicer way to do this, what happens if I want to rename my nodes, do I have to change every reference?

Getting VR set up in Godot is actually such a great experience. No installing 20 packages, just drop in 3 nodes and it works perfectly. I'm impressed!

I got my start in GameDev by watching a BlackThornProd course in early 2019.
It took 2 days and I pretty much sat there copying code from one monitor to the other.

Client Side Prediction and Server Reconciliation working in Godot 4.2 using my Riptide port. Jolt, Physics Jitter Fix 0, and Ticking in Physics Process seems to be deterministic enough that reconciliations are v infrequent.

Not really mentioned this publicly yet but in June I’m going full time on YT and I’ve never been so excited for anything. It’s gonna give me the freedom to do so much travelling, meet so many of my friends and most importantly make great content. So hyped it’s unreal.
