Doug Shows is in Fayetteville. 🤦♂️
The last time @nate_oats received a technical foul occurred with 11:48 remaining against Grand Canyon in the NCAA Tournament last season. Can the exceptional behavior continue tonight for this more congenial version of Oats when @AlabamaMBB visits Arkansas?

Great podcast from the @CrimsonChronPod team with @AlabamaMBB legend Theodore Roosevelt (T.R.) Dunn. You will learn how the biggest obstacle for Dunn signing with the Crimson Tide wasn’t North Carolina but an ink pen.

Tonight in a hostile Bud Walton Arena, @AlabamaMBB faces a rejuvenated Arkansas Razorback program once thought to be barbecued after an 0-5 start in SEC play. Fresh off two road wins at Kentucky and Texas, Arkansas (14-8 overall, 3-6 SEC) returns home looking for an upset against No. 3-ranked Alabama (19-3, 8-1). Tip-off was pushed back to 7:30 p.m. and the game will be televised by ESPN. Arkansas holds a narrow 36-33 lead in the overall series that started on Jan. 21, 1948, when the Razorbacks defeated the Crimson Tide, 42-35, in Memphis, Tenn. The schools played sporadically until SEC expansion in 1991-92 made them SEC West rivals and yearly opponents. @nate_oats is 5-2 against Arkansas which includes a four-game winning streak. However, the Razorbacks are being led by former Kentucky coach John Calipari in his first season in Fayetteville. During his tenure in Lexington, Calipari had a 4-3 record against Oats. Last year in the only meeting between the programs, No. 16 Alabama edged Arkansas, 92-88, in overtime in the last game of the regular season. The Crimson Tide trailed by double digits in both halves before rallying for the four-point victory. Mark Sears led the Crimson Tide with 22 points, while Latrell Wrightsell Jr. had 20. Grant Nelson followed with 13 points and 14 rebounds.

Eight years ago @AlabamaMBB survived a wild four overtime affair at South Carolina as the Crimson Tide outlasted the No. 19-ranked Gamecocks, 90-86, on Feb. 7, 2017, inside Colonial Life Arena. The hardwood marathon handed Alabama its first road victory over a Top 25 team in 13 years. Avery Johnson Jr. scored a career-high 23 points, which included five three-pointers, and played 44 minutes. Ar’Mond Davis hit three three-pointers and finished with 19 points, while Riley Norris played 46 minutes, scored 11 points and grabbed 14 rebounds. Alabama jumped out to a 32-16 halftime lead before South Carolina rallied in the second half and the teams ended regulation play tied 57-57. The deadlock continued with a 63-63 tie after one overtime, 74-74 after two overtimes and 82-82 at the end of the third overtime. In the pivotal fourth overtime, the teams traded baskets through the first two minutes before Norris hit four consecutive free throws and the Crimson Tide had key defensive stands to emerge with the victory. The teams met again in the quarterfinals of the SEC Tournament but Alabama didn’t need extra time to eliminate South Carolina 64-53 in Nashville. In a strange postseason twist, the Gamecocks rebounded from the SEC Tournament loss to go on a NCAA Tournament run in the East Regional beating Marquette, Duke, Baylor and Florida to reach the Final Four before falling to Gonzaga.
