The 2018 Red Sox won 108 games.
Then the Red Sox beat the 100 win Yankees in 4 in the ALDS.
Then Boston beat the 103 win Astros in 5.
Then the Sox beat the 92 win Dodgers in 5.
That’s how a great regular season team performs in October.
Eric Hosmer rejects Yankees offer:
“I got too much Boston in me to go there,” Hosmer told WEEI Saturday evening. “This city was good to me while I was with the Red Sox, and to put on the pinstripes feels dirty. I told them no.”
Joe Kelly has a 4.34 ERA in 19 appearances for the White Sox. He’s striking out 12.5/9.
Kelly is just rotting in Chicago. The Boston pen could use a strikeout pitcher.
Let’s bring Joe Kelly home.
Who is with me?
Brayan Bello out-dueled Luis Castillo.
Nick Pivetta went toe-to-toe with George Kirby.
Kutter Crawford matched Logan Gilbert.
These are significant and encouraging signs.
Top MLB bullpen save percentages:
1. Boston Red Sox: 76.7 %
2. Cincinnati Reds: 70%
2. Chicago Cubs: 70%
4. Los Angeles Dodgers: 69.7%
5 Houston Astros: 69.2%
Martin and Jansen have transformed the Sox pen into the most consistent unit in baseball.
For Jarren Duran, I am sad that the All-Star break is coming.
Last 7 G: .591 / .591 / 1.182
Last 15 G: .423 / .423 / .788
Last 30 G: .367 / .400 / .611
What a breakout first half.
It’s an awesome accomplishment but is it weird that I just don’t care?
Germán was suspended for domestic violence and suspended for using an illegal substance this year.
Just can’t cheer for this guy.
Today is career day at my school and the teachers are suppose to dress up as the career they wanted to be when they were young.
Unfortunately I never became the next Nomar Garciaparra.
Brayan Bello’s last 5 starts:
34.2 IP (6.8 IP / GS)
.185 OPP AVG
24 K
7 BB
1.82 ERA
Not enough of the baseball world is talking about what Bello is doing.
Masataka Yoshida in Red Sox wins:
.352 / .401 / .583
Masataka Yoshida in Red Sox losses:
.253 / .333 / .367
It’s safe to say that when Yoshida goes, so do the Red Sox.
This guy can play on my team any day.
Has the deal worked out through the first 3 years? No.
But I’m glad Story is a member of this organization. Hoping for a speedy recovery.
I wonder if Bogaerts was completely honest if he would admit he made a mistake by chasing the money.
The city of Boston loved him. He had success. And he had a chance to be one of the all-time Red Sox players.
Now, he’s viewed as the worst contract in baseball.
I really am confused after watching Enmanuel Valdez hit over the last 10 games (.343) how he was hitting .189 in AAA?
Likes the bright lights? Whatever it is I’m a believer.
This was Mookie’s best moment in a Sox uniform. An incredible 13 pitch plate appearance. And Eckersley nailed the call. End the lockout because we want more Fenway moments like this!

The day I don’t find pure joy in a moment like this is the day I will stop watching the Red Sox.
I don’t care if the season has been frustrating, the state of the Red Sox, or that it came against the Royals.
It was an awesome, unexpected moment.
I cant stop thinking about what it would mean for the Organization if the Red Sox announced a 6+ year extension and had a press conference revealing a C on Bogaerts’ uniform. That’s a dream worth dreaming.

What a moment. After being sent down multiple times and then DFA’d, to come back, accept an assignment to AAA and work on his game, I tip my cap to Franchy Cordero. What a moment for him.

So the Red Sox are reportedly willing to go 7 years on a 29 year old pitcher who has never pitched in the Show but wouldn't give Bogaerts 6-7 years last Spring?
Make this make sense.
After a 2 hit performance yesterday, Andrew Benintendi has his average up to .393. Yesterday was his 8th multi-hit game of the season. Red Sox outfielders have 10 multi-hit games combined. Good to see Benny find a home.

Why are the Red Sox 9 games over .500 and only 1.5 games back of a playoff spot?
They have the 4th best bullpen in all of baseball (3.67 ERA).
Pitching keeps you in ballgames and the bullpen has been the one consistent all season long.
I know not everyone looks back fondly of David Price’s tenure with Boston.
But you cannot dispute the fact that when the Red Sox gave out the largest pitching contract in the organization’s history, they went on to win 3 consecutive AL East division titles and a World Series.
I really feel like the Red Sox missed an opportunity to right a wrong by not signing Jon Lester to a 1 day contract so that he could have retired a Red Sox.
This whole situation still bugs me.
After last night’s strong outing, the Boston bullpen moved up to 7th in ERA (3.33).
If you were to remove Ryan Brasier’s 14 ER in 15.2 innings, the Red Sox bullpen ERA would be 2.71, which would rank 2nd in baseball.
What a difference a year makes.
Since we have 5 days until the Red Sox play again, I’ll post my top 5 moments of the season, 1 each day.
Coming in at

:
Bryan Bello’s 7th inning strikeout that completes his gem. That energy coming off of the mound was 🔥

I hate this. Verdugo has been awesome all year and is 1 of the leaders on this team.
Guys like Kiké can make the same physical error over and over but Verdugo makes a mental error and isn’t in the lineup for a series finale game that the team desperately needs?
Hate it.
According to
@byJulianMack
, Alex Verdugo was benched last night after not hustling out a play in the top of the 7th.
He also won’t be in the lineup for the series finale tonight.
Verdugo declined an interview before the game to talk about it.
Masataka Yoshida had -4 DRS last year and committed only 3 errors. The way Alex Cora is operating, you would think he was significantly worse.
Based on this logic, one could argue it makes more sense to put Yoshida in left and DH Devers for the rest of the season because Devers
It’s impossible to predict how a player will adjust to Major League Baseball but the executives that called Yoshida a massive overpay just look silly.
Yoshida is worth every penny of that 5 / 90M.
I bet if Jordan Montgomery was injured and expected to miss the first 3-4 months, the Red Sox would sign him. They seem to like to sign and pay pitchers to not pitch.
Pablo Reyes last 7 games:
.333 / .429 / .667
Pablo Reyes last 15 games:
.344 / .389 / .500
Pablo Reyes last 30 games:
.284 / .329 / .388
I’m not sure what else Reyes can do.
Many Red Sox fans, myself included, were in on Seiya Suzuki.

The Red Sox waited an ended up with Masataka Yoshida.

79 G: .317 / .382 / .490 / 10 HR / 10.6% K
Looks like the Red Sox ended up with the better player.
Red Sox win 5-3 and may have just secured their best win of the season!!
Casas, Devers, and Duvall all homered.
Wong with the play of the night!
Now 14-5 in the month of July.
1 win closer to being buyers.

Alex Verdugo was once again huge in the Twins series.
Can we just make him the permanent leadoff hitter?
vs RHP: .370 / .420 / .587
vs LHP: .290 / .389 / .323
Who’s in?
As a Red Sox fan, it’s embarrassing to read about FSG purchasing something for 3 B dollars and Red Sox fans have seen Mookie and Xander walk after receiving lowball offers and Red Sox Nation watches other teams get shiny, new toys because their owners are committed to winning.
I
The Boston Red Sox accomplished something in the first series of the season that they did not accomplish until August 14th of last year: win a series against an AL East team.
#DirtyWater
The Red Sox have played 9 series so far and are 6-3. There 3 losses are against the Rays, Pirates, and Orioles. Those 3 teams have the best records in baseball.
If today is JD’s last game in a Red Sox uniform, it’s been a hell of a signing.
5 / 109.95 M
G:636
AVG: .291

4-Time All-Star
Turning down his opt outs to stay in Boston means something to me. Will always be a champion in my eyes.
Thank you JD.

From 2008-2013, Jon Lester averaged 32.3 starts and 205 innings per season.
I’m not sure we will ever see a Red Sox pitcher with that type of a consistent workload ever again.
And John Henry didn’t reward Lester with an extension. Still bothers me.
Alex Cora not making the manager of the year finalists is shocking. Not saying he should win it but he is definitely top 3. The difference for the Red Sox between 2020 and 2021 is huge and Cora played the biggest role.
The Red Sox are 13-5 in the month of July and Chris Sale, Garrett Whitlock, and Tanner Houck have not thrown a single inning.
This group has been resilient.
