Hinds Co. Circuit Clerk Wallace is giving update. They ran out of ballots AND toner today which exacerbated the issues. They have multiple TYPES of ballots coming in tonight. Some paper, some electric. Going to be some hand counting. Going to take a long time. Lawyers everywhere.
I graduated from MS State in 2013 and have lived in Jackson since 2015. My parents grew up in SoJac/went to Wingfield. It’s really not a big deal. It’s a pretty normal town. Y’all are WILD and BORED. And that’s why Madison and Brandon are PERFECT for y’all. We’ll all be happier!
I'm stringing election results this evening for the Associated Press in Hinds County. I expect to be there all night with the chaos I'm hearing about. I'll let you know what I'm seeing when I get to the courthouse.
*ahem* PUBLIC SCHOOLS ARE THE BEST PLACE FOR SPECIAL NEEDS STUDENTS AND THE ONLY PLACES THAT LEGALLY ARE REQUIRED TO MEET EACH AND EVERY NEED THEY HAVE.
Very good. I’d actually run this in a commercial if I’m BP’s team. The CALedonia and NEW HEbron cadencing is really well done. And just shows how silly of a talking point it is that Tate loves to lean on. Plus it’s plain funny!
I can't believe that the Highway Patrol giving out 200 speeding tickets a day to mostly working-class people on I55 and I20 hasn't stopped the crime spree yet in Jackson. Maybe one day soon it'll start to work! 🙄
Rankin County: worried about sharia law but I can’t buy beer until after church lets out. I guess that’s white Jesus law which is fine. Totes different.
Every year, Katmai National Park and Preserve crowns a Fat Bear of the Year. This year's winner was bear 435, named Holly.
A former park ranger notes that “Holly was single this summer and able to devote all her energy toward herself".

David Baria in '14 - helped collect signatures on the Initiative 42 petition to achieve full funding of MAEP in MS. David Baria in '15 - fought like hell to try and stop
#MSleg
from passing phony 42A. David Baria cares about our public schools. Vote for him tomorrow!
@dbaria
.
@dbaria
has a record of standing with public schools and fighting for funding and upgrades for them and pay raises for
#Mississippi
teachers.
@RogerWicker
’s public school record???? Voting to confirm Betsy DeVoss as Secy of Ed. So, yeah.
As
@SKEEerra
reminds folks all the time, James Meredith will tell you at the Kroger on I55 that typically the only thing a racist will understand is a good ass whooping, and I think we’ve lost sight of the value in that these last 7 days, okay?
As someone who’s worked on a ballot initiative program in this state, and was on a team of folks that collected 200K+ signatures, and led the efforts along the Gulf Coast, today’s ruling is hard to stomach. They never let you win.

With polls closing now at 8pm CT for Hinds Co., I wouldn't expect the first batch of numbers being reported until AT LEAST 9:15-30 CT. I've strung many elections at the Hinds Co. courthouse. They're very slow. Precincts in rural stretches take a while to arrive. Gird your loins.
I'm stringing election results this evening for the Associated Press in Hinds County. I expect to be there all night with the chaos I'm hearing about. I'll let you know what I'm seeing when I get to the courthouse.
Some Hinds Co. precincts are starting to roll in. Slowly. Because there’s no projector, I have no way of knowing how many boxes are in and counted. Nor does anyone else here for the purpose of reporting/stringing numbers.
On this national coming out day I’m thinking of when my mother, about 10 years ago, took me for a ride, told me she and my dad were sick of waiting for me to come out and dragged me out of the closet kicking and screaming. I was mad at the time, but I hit the fucking jackpot w/em
After about 103 hours, I have power back. Finally. Hundreds of dollars in lost food, fuel, and productivity over the past days. Glad to get house cooled for me and pets.
Thanks to
@JxnFreePress
for featuring me in 'Guys we Love' 2018. Many more men, especially in Jackson, MS, do much harder work than me. I very much appreciate it, though.
There are multiple marathoners at
@urbanfoxesjxn
gorging on pies and coffee and I love that for them. Like same - but without the marathon - for me. We’re a lot alike!

@DeAnna4Congress
I bet she’s SICK that she can’t count you... lailani... as a fan anymore. I hope she finds a way to sleep through the night! The stress this must cause her!
A cousin of mine, one I now wish I had been closer to and had offered more help and love and advice and resources to, took his own life yesterday. 27 years old. Hold your loved ones tighter. Hug them more. Love them better.
Mad when black people are working. Mad when black people need assistance. Mad when black people are more successful than you. It’s almost as if y’all are just.. mad with black people in general.
Chairman Bennie Thompson told us that the select committee will “soon” issue subpoenas but he declined to say who would be targeted. He said the panel won’t resort to writing letters for voluntary information — and will instead go straight to subpoenas.
y’all want teachers to effectively prepare our youth, carry straps, and bust back at school shooters but at the same time only pay them $40,000 a year.
People are dying in a once-in-a-lifetime pandemic, and we’re about 2-3 weeks from more dead children, but I’m glad we’re focusing on the important thing: if a headline was too MEAN to the Governor.
I read a lot of
@MSTODAYnews
articles and without checking the by-lines, I can always tell if
@GanucheauAdam
contributed because of the gratuitous attacks and politically charged headlines. 1/6
I’m supporting
@dbaria
for Senate on Tuesday because he’s been in the fight for years. He’s tested and proven and experienced. Join me on Tuesday!

If you don’t make $450K (vast majority of Tate’s constituents) your taxes aren’t going up. No, there’s not 87,000 new IRS agents being hired, and YES, gas is $3.25 now in Mississippi. So the whole tweet is wrong. Top to bottom.
And what did national Democrats do this week?
-Raise taxes.
-Fund 87,000 new IRS agents to take more of your dollars.
-Dump more money into the system further fueling rapid inflation.
If they were trying to make things worse, what could they possibly do differently?
Things are looking much better tonight for
@dbaria
, but maybe what says the most is his hometown voters' support for him. Look at these Hancock Co. numbers. Seems like if you give him a chance to represent you, you'll be happy with the product.
I almost just choked on an oatmeal cream pie because I was laughing at something - so naturally, now I’m just picturing the police coming in to find my fat ass with oatmeal cream pie in my trachea and a smile on my decomposing face. I’m mentally ill, huh?
It doesn't even matter what Initiative 65 is about to me. It could be about aspirin instead of pot. The issue is that there's no point in having ballot initiatives in
#Mississippi
if the
#msleg
can simply kill them single-handily. Ballot initiatives are for direct citizen action.
Ridgewood at Northside. Pear orchard at old canton. Canton mart and 55. These are some of the major intersections in NE JXN still with no lights and no power. 56 hours after the storm.
@EntergyMS
Gentlemen, if you’re buying fresh cut flowers for mom anyway, may I suggest grabbing yourself some too? They’ll make you feel better, and you deserve them too. Hers on the left, mine on the right.
People are going to study Stacy Abrams for literal centuries. Will go down as one of the most prolific political minds and organizers in all of US History. Literally. They’ll be talking about her hundreds of years from now. A daughter of the Miss. Gulf Coast.

@ezraklein
The media doesn’t vote. Voters vote. Bernie should’ve worked harder over last 4 years to earn African American vote. He didn’t. Tonight is the consequence.
How do I know? Because
@dbaria
and his entire family personally helped me get

signatures on a hot August afternoon at a Bay St. Louis high school football game. Everybody talks the "Pro-Public School" talk....... he walks the walk!

“I’m opposed to Obamacare. We need more telemedicine” in response to a question about 300K uninsured Mississippians is the most on-brand conservative MSGOP answer imaginable. Believe them when they tell you they. do. not. care. about. sick. women. and. children.
#msgovdebate
The 300,000 Mississippians are without health care and insurance
HOOD: Reeves turns down a billion dollars a year
Tate reeves has turned down five billion
REEVES: I'm opposed to Obamacare
We need more telemedicine
God she’s SO GOOD at this! Watch Wray’s body language begin to crumble and slouch and look how the sweat is flowing by the end. Can you imagine her prosecuting you for like… a murder or an armed robbery?? You’re DONE!
If I remember correctly this is the teachers union and does not represent the majority of the hardworking teachers across Mississippi. I never had their support running for Governor nor did I want it.
How many elderly folks have you scheduled shots for? The next door threads, and FB too, are filled with folks who don’t have computers/don’t know the internet. Sign them up! It’s easy. Then forward them the email confirmation, or copy and paste it. I’ve done for at least 5 folks.
This is Ace. I adopted him today :) Steve, my existing cat is PISSSSSED, so say a prayer or do a dance or whatever and hope that I can get them bonded and I can keep him
Congress is going down the same road I’ve seen the
#msleg
go down, and it leads to this fantasy world where it’s a good economic idea to simultaneously cut taxes and cut the size of gov’t. Ppl will feel it. We’ve been feeling it here for a while.
Good things were happening here in 2015 when you showed your ass up from Tangipohoa Parish to kill a ballot init. to fully fund our public schools. 🙄 You love Miss. how she is now, and you love the power dynamic and you love your friends being where they are, not “goodness.”
If you spend all day, every day lamenting about where you live, you miss the opportunity to make it better. You create in others a psychological belief that good is not possible here. Good is possible here. Good is happening here.
I got to go to Gov. Winter’s law office in ‘15 and shoot this video of him while I was doing social media for
@42ForBtrSchools
. He was a kind, gracious man - even to a young, loud impatient kid with a video camera. His voice was so strong then, even at 92.
I really feel sorry for anyone competing for the Emmy for Best Actress in a Drama Series this year, b/c Kate Winslet wrapped that up about 3 weeks ago if we're all being honest.

It was a joy to sit down with
@ArekiaSBennett
to talk the power of women’s votes, the 19th Amnd, the VRA, and how
@MSVotes
is engaging voters ahead of the election. Give it a watch!
We sat down with the Executive Director of
@MSVotes
, Arekia Bennett, to talk about 100 years of the

, the power of the women's voting bloc, MS Votes' upcoming activities ahead of November, and the importance of the upcoming election. Watch:
This amazing lady gave me my first job out of college. I wrote newsletters and other brief correspondence for her during the 2014

session. It opened every door that I've walked through since. Go get em, Rep.!
It has truly been an honor to serve you the people of Mississippi’s 119th House District. When we started this journey 8yrs ago, we sought out change. Today, I officially filed for re-election to continue working towards that change to better our community.

One of the best parts about the

rally yesterday in Jackson, MS was when the gym all stood and went crazy with an ovation for the

union when they walked in.
