Doesn't sound like a lot, but to us it might as well be a million. This is the first time we've ever passed 30,000 downloads in a month – thanks so much for listening!
It is November 27th. The Back Page started three years ago today! Think of all the drafts, GOTY episodes, great guest interviews, Games Courts and cursed mailbags we've fired out since then.
On it goes. Thanks for listening.
One year ago today we released our first episode, PS5 vs Xbox Series X. 130,000 downloads across 53 episodes later, we're still having a great time making this pod. Thanks for your support!
There will be no pod this week as we need a short break for personal reasons. Sorry about that!
We know we still owe you a Games Court. We'll circle back to that another time.
Thanks for understanding!
We did it in one day. The £600 stretch goal is unlocked. *Everyone* at the XL Tier will have access to another monthly podcast series from us. We will also offer our contributors a flat fee for their participation.
This is what we're making for you in The Back Page XXL series!
Imagine you bought Haze on PS3, for a single podcast episode, for £1 from CEX. Three days later...you discover the box is empty apart from the manual. No disc.
Your name is...Samuel Roberts.
New episode! For our 100th episode, enjoy a selection of highlights from our first two years. Chances are, one of your favourites made the cut.
Thanks for your support in getting us this far!
So: Patreon. Full launch coming Friday. . If you love what we do, you can now support us!
£1 monthly tier – just to say thank you for our work.
£4.50 monthly tier – a new, exclusive series of monthly podcasts called The Back Page XL. Here's year one.
Two years since we passed this pod milestone. Today, the total stands at 664,000+ downloads! Sadly, quite a lot of it is Games Court.
Cheers for listening.
Well, shit! We hit the Patreon stretch goal of £2,000. Thanks so much for your support. The monthly miniseries PC Gaming Classics has been unlocked.
Give us a few weeks to figure out the particulars, and we'll have more info soon.
As mentioned on this week's episode, we're launching a Patreon next month.
Two tiers: around £1 and £5. One bonus episode a month for the latter tier, more if we hit a stretch goal.
And that's it! Thanks for listening up until this point.
Doesn't sound like a lot, but this is the first time we've hit 3000 downloads with a new episode in 7 days! Cheers.
In fairness, how could you not download an episode with this title?
We're considering starting a Discord server for the podcast, where you can discuss episodes, games, JC's Kitchen and leave us questions.
Any interest in such a thing?
Mathew Castle sits down with Shu Takumi, to pull back the curtain on a career spent surprising and delighting players through the puzzling narratives of series like Ace Attorney. The section of the mag is presented as a newspaper and is even printed on a different paper stock.
Yesterday was the first time a new episode hit 1,000 downloads on release day, which feels like a small milestone. Thanks for your support!
People like Zelda, it turns out, and the reaction to this one has been lovely to see.

That's the best games of 2002 pod in the bag. No kidding, there's an hour of Matthew talking about Homebase and Samuel talking about GCSE drama (and eventually, two top 10 lists of cracking games).
Bad news: we're slightly behind on recording so this month's XXL pod on Mission: Impossible movies is gonna be a week later than planned – July 31st. Sorry!
Good news: whatever this is by Naeslyn in the Discord.
There is now a physical backup of every single pod episode. Long after the world around you turns to ash, future generations will hear about 'Games Court'.

The three-person draft seems popular, so we've got a third person doing the PS4 draft with us in a couple of weeks too. That's three people vying for Days Gone!
