🧠 This #WorldSightDay, we celebrate the powerful connection between the brain and vision, where restoring sight is as much about retraining the brain as it is about healing the eyes. 👁
#EducationalThursday Let's celebrate #WorldSightDay by acknowledging the incredible connection between our eyes and brain in the journey to regain sight! 👀 𝐕𝐢𝐬𝐮𝐚𝐥 𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐭𝐨𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧: how the Brain’s Vision Center helps regain sight ❔ Did you know that visual restoration isn’t just about fixing the eyes? The brain plays a key role in helping people regain sight after damage! How it works: When light enters the eye, it sends signals to the visual cortex, the part of the brain responsible for interpreting what you see. Even if the eyes are repaired (for example, through surgery or stem cell therapy), the brain must retrain itself to process and make sense of these new signals. 😯 Fun Fact: The brain can sometimes reawaken dormant areas of the visual cortex that were inactive during blindness! ☝ Visual restoration isn’t just about your eyes – it’s about retraining your brain to “see” again! Check out the activity of @BVC2021, were researchers focus on the brain's role in helping people regain sight after vision loss: 🌐
