BTU crews continue to work to restore power. PLEASE resist the urge to turn on your electric heat as soon as power comes back on. Wait for 15-20 minutes so the load doesn't overwhelm the line and blow a fuse. This delays repairs and keeps crews from moving to other locations.

1 of 3: Several BTU customers have asked if their utility rates will spike, as has been reported in state and national media. There will be no increase in rates for BTU customers. BTU is a municipal utility owned by the City of Bryan, and rates are set by City rate ordinances.

The Texas electric grid supply remains at extremely low levels, resulting in much longer and more extensive blackouts. BTU cannot cut power to critical load feeders, which supply power to hospitals, fire stations, police, etc. We are mandated to make these cuts by ERCOT.
